What you'll do
Every parrot has a story. You’ll learn all about our rainbow-colored rescues in Kona’s only parrot sanctuary.
We’ll start with our mission: to give every displaced parrot a nutritious diet, large space to fly, and a safe place to interact with other parrots (and people).
Next, we'll take a walk around the sanctuary, where you can get to know the range of personalities of cockatoos, lovebirds, macaws, and more species.
Throughout the tour, you will have many photo opportunities, especially with our well-trained parrots.
Other things to note
Wear casual clothes, closed-toe shoes, sunscreen, and a hat, and bring a camera. Parrots in Paradise Sanctuary is also home to three rescue dogs and a tortoise.

I grew up on the Big Island and have always been surrounded by lush trees, the captivating ocean, and tropical animals that give Hawaii an energy that can’t be replaced.
Our family started noticing a large amount of parrots who outlived their owners (parrots can live up to 100 years)! There was no place for them to call home, so we decided to build one.
Since then, my family has rescued parrots globally for the last 18 years.

It was a very informative and educational tour on a beautiful property. Every bird has an interesting story of their background and where they came from. You can tell that Gerald is very passionate about the birds and the sanctuary. We got the chance to interact with and hold a few of the birds.

We enjoyed and learned so much on our first visit, that we brought 10 members of our family this time. Our 6 grandchildren (ages 5 to 23) and adult children were fascinated by the variety, beauty, personalities and stories about each bird. This adventure is definitely worth your time and you may want to come back again and again like we do. And you will be supporting this non-profit sanctuary for the health and well being of the lovely parrots. Thank you Gerry, Dorothy and Gerald. Keep up your meaningful work! See you again next time!
