What you'll do

Your visit begins with a meet up and quick safety briefing on how to interact with the Alpacas and Goats. Then it's off to the chicken yard where you’ll get a hands-on experience with our girls. We’ll talk about the rewards of raising backyard chickens. Collect some eggs to take home with you so you can have the freshest, most nutritious, delicious breakfast ever! Next we'll visit the goats. The goats will come when called and eat leaves from our hands. Everyone will have treats to offer the goats. There will be opportunities for pics all along the way. We'll then set off to our fluffy friends. Alpaca are gentle, friendly, wonderful creatures. You will be amazed at their incredible soft fleece and their large, expressive eyes which seem to exhibit both wisdom and childlike curiosity. Depending on time of day and the weather you may help bring alpaca to their fields to graze or help feed them their daily grain. Guests are welcome to go into the enclosures and interact with the Alpacas and Goats. All will be able to participate in farming activities which may include feeding, moving, or milking. Included in your tour is an “Alpaca Trek” A leisurely 1/2 mile walk across farmland and country roads(guest>7 yrs old). You'll be able to take some great alpaca selfies! Final stop is our farm store where you will have the opportunity to purchase some of our farm products.

Matt is retired US Air Force and Melissa is a Registered Nurse. Who knew how helpful those skills would be to farming and raising animals. We are now in our fourth year of being farmers. If you ever thought of escaping the rat race and living a farm lifestyle then come visit. We will be more than happy to share our experiences and stories. In the past four years we have learned how to keep honey bees, raise and breed Nubian goats, chickens, and care for alpaca. We call it "Farm Therapy". One of the many ways we keep from despairing [about the world] is doing this farming thing. There's a lot of peace in reducing our footprint and living our values. Eating our homegrown foods, enjoying nature, raising our animals, and most importantly learning new stuff everyday.

Matt and Melissa are incredible hosts who share their labor of love with their visitors. They gave us great info, clearly love the animals and the land, and indulged our animal-loving 9 year old. Highly recommend!

Matt and Melissa did a phenomenal job in making us feel welcomed at Shaka Alpaca Farm! Very clean and safe in regards to covid, as masks were worn, sanitizer stations were provided, and private tours were done. One of a kind experience and would definitely recommend to family and friends!

Shaka Alpaca was so lovely! My first AirBnb Experience booking and it was such a delightful experience. Matt and Melissa were extremely thoughtful and hospitable hosts to our family of five that included three little children. They provided a warm and thorough tour of their adorable alpaca farm, filled with lots of extras including chickens (we took home some eggs!), goats, bees and bunnies! The tour was very family friendly and Matt and Melissa took much care to accommodate their littlest guest, our feisty 2 yr old. He already wants to plan a trip back for when he’s 7yrs old and old enough to walk his own alpaca himself! :) Thank you both for the charming tour and all the pictures you shared with us as well!! Memories galore.

This was an amazing experience! Matt, Melissa, and Jason were so kind and accommodating. We came to celebrate a birthday and had such a good time! We learned about chickens, goats, alpaca, bees, pesticides, and Hawaii in a fun way, we left feeling like part of the family! Melissa takes plenty of photos and sends them to you after so you can focus on learning about the animals. There is a clear and prominent focus on safety, from covid precautions to ensuring proper footwear is provided and of course animal safety. It truly was the highlight of the weekend and we would love to go back! Thank you so much for an incredible experience!
