What you'll do

Anyone can take you to a paladar - private restaurant- in Havana, but I can take you beyond it.

I'll help you understand what it takes to run a paladar business in this city while visiting the inner workings of one. How do they get the ingredients for delicious Ropa Vieja? How´s bread kept crispy for Cuban sandwiches? What are the challenges?

You´ll tour the areas, attend a mise-en-place meeting, make your own Mojitos, try the house specialties right from the pan and exchange with the crew in the kitchen.

You'll literally follow every step of your meal ending in a table in which we will share the most candid conversations about Cuban reality sided with generous lunch and drinks.

Over coffee, I´ll give you tips and recs on how and where to find good meals in my city.
Other things to note
Please let me know if you have any dietary restriction.

Don´t dress up, this is a down-to-earth experience.

I attended this Experience with my 72-year old non-English speaking mother, who I thought might be interested in this subject as a recently retired restaurant worker herself. Ariel was a fun and engaging guide, allowing plenty of space for us to ask questions and translate English to Korean, but what I really appreciated was the level of care he showed us as guests. After a tasty meal and spirited conversation about technology and social justice, he gave us some wonderful non-touristy shopping and dining recommendations, helped me TREMENDOUSLY with the wi-fi problems I was experiencing, and sent us home in an air-conditioned car. I highly recommend booking this Experience as early on your trip as possible.

When the experience felt like I had made a new friend in Ariel and ready to own my a restaurant! Highly recommend to learn about the entrepreneur culture in Cuba, enjoy some great food and the best Mojitos with the recipe! A once-in-a-lifetime experience.

This experience with Ariel was simply wonderful. Not only did we learn a lot about paladars and how they operated in Cuba but we also ate a lot of absolutely delicious food. We were super stuffed! Ariel was also an absolute delight. Friendly and full of life, we had great conversations and he even helped us out when we were in a bit of a bind. Ariel taught us what Cuban hospitality is really like and it is because of him that we started to really love Cuba. Thank you Ariel for the absolutely amazing day.
