What you'll do

During the Kauai Nectar adventure...

We will spend about an hour exploring the hives, our tasks being dictated by whatever the hives need each day. Including:

Collecting Pollen
Shifting boxes
Examining hives & their occupants

You will have the opportunity to learn about the biology, life cycles, and societal structures of the beehives.

We will finish the morning with local raw honey and pollen tasting. You'll leave with your very own jar of honey from one of Kauai Nectar’s apiaries.

We do have an age limit for this tour, if your child does not meet the requirement, please request a private tour! We are happy to invite younger children to visit the bees, the limit is only to accommodate other guests during a group tour.

Other things to note:

You will sweat in the bee suit, wear light comfortable clothing, close-toed shoes, long socks.

There are no bathrooms at the Apiary, please come prepared and use the bathroom beforehand.

We will meet at the Apiary, located in Kapa'a at the intersection of Olohena and Waipouli Rd. The field is on Olohena Rd, NOT Waipouli Rd.

I have been exceptionally lucky in 2 ways, I was born and raised on the beautiful island of Kauai and in 2011 I discovered a beehive that changed my life. Since then, I have been fortunate enough to study under master beekeepers from Hawaii, California and Europe. I now manage 7 apiaries and 200+ bee hives across the island and enjoy being called "honey girl" around Kauai. I am proud to be one the few young, female beekeepers worldwide and love sharing this ancient practice with people of all ages and backgrounds.

We had a great time! Robin knows her stuff about the land and her bees. The experience was really fun and getting to see a queen bee, female working bees and male bees. The honey tasting at the end was beyond anything I expected. The flavor different in her Kauai Nectar and what we get on the mainland is night and day. Thank you Robin for a great experience for us!

Incredibly educational, fun, and amazing! This was the “bees knee”! Anyone slightly interested in bees will have a great time and experienced beekeepers will learn something new. Pollen tasting, honey sampling, oh my!!

Robin is very friendly, personable, and passionate about beekeeping. She really personalized her presentation based on the experiences and knowledge of her guests. She took time to get to know each of us and our interests in bees so she could customize the information she shared. Very highly recommended!!!

Robin is natural story teller - she is warm, friendly and you feel instantly comfortable in her presence. She weaves interesting bee facts throughout the experience and the up close interaction with the bees is awesome. I would recommend this tour to anyone looking for something truly unique and special and I will be buying all the flavors of honey because it's just that good.

This ended up being one of the most amazing experiences we had in Kauai. It was exciting and we’ll remember it forever. The guide was so friendly and informative, and we learned so much. Definitely worth it!!
