About your host, Cuba Skate, Inc.
I’m the co-founder and Executive Director of Cuba Skate, Inc. I fell in love with Cuba after studying abroad in Havana during my senior year of college, and since then I've been back many times to work with the organization and lead cultural exchanges with pro skaters and university students. Every time I go back I am more motivated by our Cuban family.
What we’ll do
You’ll spend a day in the life of our organization and its participants, including Cuban youths, skateboarders and artists. We’ll start at the wood shop, where we'll enjoy coffee and fresh fruit while we build and recycle skateboard decks and mix cement to assemble coping blocks for our DIY skatepark. We’ll then take off for Paseo del Prado or our DIY skatepark in Marianao -- up to you! We can …
What I’ll provide
Cuban "merienda" (snacks) 󴀁
Street food and home-cooked food

Guarapo and Cuban café 󲀃
Sugarcane juice and delicious Cuban coffee

Woodworking & DIY tools 󳀁
Skate gear and woodworking tools are provided.

Fresh fruit 󴀁
A variety of seasonal Cuban fruit
Who can come
Guests ages 15 and up can attend. Parents may also bring children under 2 years of age.
Notes
Please feel free to bring your own camera. Also, bring sunscreen and bottled water. We ask our guests to help deliver skate gear around the island, which we will provide.
Where we’ll be
We’ll be in Nuevo Vedado, a beautiful residential enclave next to Vedado, the primary downtown neighborhood of the city. There's a nice balance of museums, colonial mansions, and wonderful street cuisine. Marianao is just outside of Havana, where we are building a skate park in a former military campground. We'll also explore Vedado and Central Havana.
