About your host

I’m the co-founder and Executive Director of Cuba Skate, Inc. I fell in love with Cuba after studying abroad in Havana during my senior year of college, and since then I've been back many times to work with the organization and lead cultural exchanges with pro skaters and university students. Every time I go back I am more motivated by our Cuban family.

About Cuba Skate, Inc.

Cuba Skate, Inc. is a non-profit organization based in Washington, D.C. with on-the-ground youth development programs in Havana and across the island. Skateboarding is our vehicle for community outreach and we work with our Cuban participants to support and uplift skateboarding culture. Through skateboarding, we operate programs in woodworking, skate park building, and English and media courses.
This is a social impact experience where 100% of what you pay for this experience goes to Cuba Skate, Inc.. .

What we’ll do

You’ll spend a day in the life of our organization and its participants, including Cuban youths, skateboarders and artists. We’ll start at the wood shop, where we'll enjoy coffee and fresh fruit while we build and recycle skateboard decks and mix cement to assemble coping blocks for our DIY skatepark. We’ll then take off for Paseo del Prado or our DIY skatepark in Marianao -- up to you! We can…

Where you'll be

We’ll be in Nuevo Vedado, a beautiful residential enclave next to Vedado, the primary downtown neighborhood of the city. There's a nice balance of museums, colonial mansions, and wonderful street cuisine. Marianao is just outside of Havana, where we are building a skate park in a former military campground. We'll also explore Vedado and Central Havana.
