What you'll do
You will learn how to cook Costa Rica traditional food: - Empanadas - Arroz con Pollo (perfumed rice with chicken) - Gallo Pinto (traditional rice and beans) - Tortillas con Queso (handmade tortillas with local cheese) - Picadillo de Papa (potatoes in chunks with ground beef) - Fried Yuca One of the highlights that guests love the most is that you will keep plenty of yummy leftovers, so your experience remains for the following day. I recommend you booking days before departing CR. These recipes have been transmitted generation after generation. I learned them from my mother and they will be handed to you. I will explain to you on what occasions we normally cook them, what are the secrets for the best taste and stories behind these dishes. Making tortillas and empanadas are perfect activities for children, they love playing with corn dough, I do that with my little grandson Samuel when he visits me. Meanwhile, teens and adults learn more elaborated recipes. The cooking class starts at 9 am or 3 pm at my house in Huacas, it lasts max 4 hours (varies depending on the number of guests and their skills in the kitchen). You will sit at the table to enjoy your meal, have quality bonding time and learn about our culture. Please let me know if there are any dietary restrictions. Costa Rican food is varied so there are options for specific diets (gluten-free, vegetarians, vegans).

Hi my name is Lady! I'm a local expert in Costa Rican food. All my life I have been passionate about cooking so throughout the years I have mastered the recipes and techniques I learned from my mother and grandmother. My family has enjoyed (and tasted) my passion. They encouraged me to share it with others by offering a unique Costa Rican food experience. So since 2016 I got my Food Manipulation License (required by the Costa Rica government for cooking services) and have shared with people from all over the world the authentic flavor of this country. As a mom, nothing makes me happier than seeing my family enjoy a meal, and I have that same feeling when I meet other families and see their faces when they learn Costa Rican recipes and then have family bonding time in a private loving atmosphere during dinner.
