Create A Beautiful Hawaiian Lei Po'o

Kapolei, Hawaii, United States

Experience hosted by Kiana

  1. 90 mins
  2. Hosted in English and French

What you'll do

We are excited to teach you you how to create your own unique lei po'o (flower crown). You will choose your own tropical flowers and create a unique and beautiful custom piece made with fresh flowers. All of our flowers are locally sourced from local gardens and we support local farmers. We also provide high quality local store bought flowers such as torch ginger, cymbidium orchids, anthuriums, etc. Our workshop is high end because we use high end flowers and natural materials sourced from Polynesia (Lauhala leaves from Tahiti). Your leis will last 3-4 days and will enrich your Hawaii experience tenfold.

While making your lei, I will share the cultural meanings of our leis and why we wear them in Hawai'i. I am born and raised in Laie, Hawaii and have lived here for 27 years. I am passionate about my culture and I would love to share it with you.

After creating your lei, I will take photos of you with your own camera or with my iPhone camera at a beautiful white sand lagoon. These will not be professionally edited photos by me but I will do my very best to take photos that you can keep as a souvenir. If you would like professional photos, I have a separate experience for that and the link is down below!

All of our lei po'os can be seen on our IG page, @oahuleis. Check it out and we look forward to meeting you!

Born and raised in Laie, Hawaii, I have been making leis with my Mom since I was 4 years old. I began my career at one year old as a professional dancer at the Polynesian Cultural Center a. I have performed and taught Polynesian dancing all over the world and traveled with the PCC promotional team & BYU Living Legends promoting Polynesian culture on every continent.

We had to make our own lei po'o and costume attire for every performance and share our culture with every audience member. I have a deep passion for my culture and I would love to share it with you.

Since then, my Mom and I started a business called "O'ahu Leis" and we make tropical leis for guests from all of the world. I learned from the best: my beautiful and talented Mom. She has been making leis for 30+ years and has won numerous lei making awards in Hawaii & Tahiti

This was an amazing experience! Kiana was a fantastic host. She talked us through the whole process while sharing lots of stories about the Hawaiian culture as well as the meaning behind Lei’s and each flower that was used. Our finished product was amazing!!

This was such a fun and unique experience! Kiana was so sweet and you can tell she is passionate about what she does. She took the time to teach how to make the lei po’o and it’s significance. She went above and beyond to make the class an exceptional experience!

Kiana did a great job helping my wife and daughters make leis. They came back from their experience so happy and loved the knowledge that Kiana passed on. She was also very conscious of the Covid outbreak and made sure everyone felt safe at her house. Thank you for a great experience. We loved learning about the Hawaiian culture!

This was a really fun experience with my almost-8-year-old. I am glad my husband came along to help my daughter, as holding everything at once was a bit tricky for her. Nonetheless, we had a fantastic time. Kiana was a wonderful teacher and offered great recommendations for a place to eat following the class. This is a unique experience we’ll remember forever.

Such an amazing experience! Kiana gave us wonderful instruction on making our lei po’os and shared with us the meaning of them. She was happy to add a new date that worked for us for our workshop and we are so grateful we were able to experience this. We received numerous compliments on our lei po’os.
