What you'll do

Around sunset, I will meet and eventually guide you to the stargazing place Llano de las Ventas, selected from 10 astronomy dark mirador sites protected by the law defending the professional observatory against light pollution. There I setup my powerful Sky-Watcher 12" (30-cm diam) GOTO telescope and astronomy binoculars for a two hour session to show you at least 10 diamonds of the sky: the Moon, planets and satellites, double stars, open and globular clusters, Milky Way, nebulae and galaxies... Depending on the season, we return to hotel around midnight. For best darkest stargazing experience, it's preferably to plan your La Palma sejour to start between the last quarter and new Moon phase time.
Other things to note
The stargazing night session is planned in Llano de Las Ventas, but we should be flexible based on weather status and eventually postpone the activity for another night. Once you book, I will provide you promptly the daily status.

I'm an astronomer who loves to share my passion to curious people and show them the wonders of the night sky of La Palma! Born in Romania, moving to Canada, South Africa, Chile, and since 2009 to Canary islands in order to follow my dedication for astronomy! I have a solid education in mathematics and astrophysics (including two doctorates), two main research interests (asteroids and galaxies) and three decades of experience in science, education and public outreach (including collaborations, publications and discoveries besides students and amateur astronomers)! I speak fluently English, Spanish, some French and native Romanian, proposing you a two hour stargazing tour assisted by my powerful 30-cm diameter telescope and optionally providing other day outdoor activities of our "La isla bonita", school trips, expeditions or conferences.
