What you'll do

We will meet in Union Square and walk the streets of my neighborhood, the East Village. On our two hour tour, I will point out iconic restaurants, statues, parks, bars, & along the way we will stop for a $1 slice of pizza & end with $2 or $3 beers! (Bar has full cocktails & other beers as well if you’d prefer that!) We will also discuss a brief history of the East Village, and the stark difference of some mainstay deli’s & bars versus the new Target & Trader Joe’s locations. You won’t want to leave the East Village after our tour once you know all of the things to see & all of the drinks to be had!

When you book my tour, I will send you a list of ALL my favorite cheapskate (& other) activities in NYC (Not just in the East Village!). It includes tips on getting tickets to Broadway shows & the best souvenir shops.

I’m an actress who has been living in NYC for over a decade, but spent two years traveling. My travel made me want to create this experience, as most tourists in NYC never get to explore any sort of “backpacking” or “cheapskate” experience. My 12 years living in NYC, and specifically 3 years living in the East Village, made it fun to create this east village based tour. I’ve worked & played in this neighborhood & am excited to share lots of little Big Apple secrets. I started working as a tour guide at Wagner College while I was at school there & am so happy to be giving tours again!
(I give a “Cheapskate NYC” tour as well on Airbnb, which is based in Midtown instead of the East Village.)

Where you'll be

Union Square; we’ll begin our tour with a peek at each statue & monument inside this historic park
The three sections of the East Village; Alphabet City, Little Ukraine, & the Bowery
St. Mark’s Place; Ada Calhoun called this street "like superglue for fragmented identities" and wrote that “the street is not for people who have chosen their lives ... it is for the wanderer”
Astor Place; a one block street with the famous sculpture “Alamo”/cube

The tour with Erin was amazing! She was very knowledgeable, personable, and just overall a gem. The experience felt like I was roaming the streets with a pal! In top of that I learned so much about the East Village of Manhattan and even got to enjoy a few brews and good food like a local would. The price is a bargain for all that you are getting as well. 5 Stars would highly recommend ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️!

Erin meets her guests in an open and friendly manner. I am a tour guide and booking with a local to get to know a new place is one of my new favourite things to do on Airbnb. I booked this tour on my first day to get an overview of the city and of this particular area, since I was staying nearby. Erin has a passion and interest in this area and shared and answered any questions that I had. Any questions about the East Village as well as anything about New York. She is very good at finding out peoples interests and personalizing the tour. It is a worthwhile investment and experience I am very glad I did. This area is unique and has so much interesting history. She also left me with some ideas for further exploration around New York. Thank you Erin! If I had time I would likely have booked her other tour as well.
