What you'll do

You'll explore the trendy neighborhood of Williamsburg with our friendly local host. Roam around the hip(ster) area, spot vivid street art, sift through thrift stores and pop into impossibly cool boutiques.

There are innovative craft breweries to be visited, trendy coffee shops to stop by and fusion restaurants to check out. But despite the hype, we have to say that Willamsburg has earned its artistic credentials. With your host sharing tales and pointing out secret spots, you'll experience the warm community spirit, soak up the creativity and see that there's more to Williamsburg than hipsters riding around on bikes they claim to have built themselves.

Visit a few small art galleries, spot the incredible street art and soak up the creative vibes. Spot vivid street art, sift through thrift stores, pop into impossibly cool boutiques and peruse the local flea market.

You'll visit the Brooklyn Brewery with your host - the brewery produces over 15 different beers and offers cellar tours as well and afterwards you will take a stroll through McCarren Park, while you chat about what else to do on your trip to New York.

Our guide really didn't have any historical information to tell us about the neighborhood and how it has changed over the years, who used to live here, who lives here now. How the neighborhood has changed. She seemed to not like the neighborhood and didn't like that now most of the buildings are condos for rich people. She kept telling us about other neighborhoods that were better. She seemed to waste a lot of time walking us to a ferry launch, so we could take the ferry back to Manhattan. Most streets she chose to walk us down was under construction, heavy loud street construction. She should have known that and re-routed the tour. Also she felt it was important to show us the outside of a warehouse where she had dinner once. Strange, since it was a one time pop up restaurant and it was down a side street under construction. We had a hard time hearing her, only the person walking next to her could hear her. Best part was the donut shop.

My host was very friendly and welcoming, although I expected a bit more out of the description. We were done with the tour in Williamsburg in about 40-50 minutes and continued with it in the area of Dumbo, to fill the time. I was missing some more insights about galleries, second hand (stores) etc... You might also think about another time frame (afternoon / evening). We had an excellent lunch break!
