What you'll do

The night begins at the base of an old mountain, that at one time was selected to be a gypsum mine before it was deemed unsuccessful and abandoned due to a lack of deposits. For many years this mountain remained hollow, with a cave system running through it. Until recently they collapsed the caves due to instability. But what they can never take away is the best view of the city. On this perch of sand and stone, you may gaze out to the majesty that is the city of Las Vegas. It is truly an awe inspiring view to be captured by your eyes but to be photographed as well. We will start by taking pristine photos of you and your group and the Las Vegas valley. We will then build a bonfire to remind you of the comforts of home, and welcome you into ours. Over the next hour we will be making smores, an american treat, and exchanging stories of our adventures, identifying constellations and listening to a playlist fit for the gods.

We provide:

I am a true patron of the outdoor arts around my city, Las Vegas. Born and raised in this fabulous city , a quintessential desert dweller. My passion is showing that there is so much more to see than just the neon lights of the Strip and if you have an adventurous soul, than I have just the thing to satisfy it.

I have been hiking these areas since I was a young boy, camping, fishing, hiking. You name it I have done it. I have taken many traveler's through this beautiful landscape and now I am ready to cater to Airbnb's demographic.

If you an experience that’s other than visiting downtown or the Strip give this a go. Jake is flexible with meeting points and it’s an experience what an American can do in does in a more rural environment. You can get to learn about the culture of wild rural Nevada is quite different to downtown. Jake is fun to hang out with and is recommend for someone who want to get out of downtown.

I went on this experience with host Mike and I had an absolutely wonderful time! Mike was kind enough to pick me up from my airbnb and drive me up to the location. Mike set up the bonfire and we talked for hours sharing stories and life experiences with a great view of Las Vegas in the background. It felt like a once in a lifetime experience and I loved every second of it. I’m disappointed I don’t live near Vegas as I would do this experience again in a heartbeat.

Though Jake normally does not do any hotel pick-ups and trust me, in Vegas, one can understand why, due to the small number of guests and his friend Adrian being with him last night, he was able to make an exception; Adrian was close to the Strip and could stop by to get the three of us. We met Jake and he greeted us with nice warm hot chocolate then Adrian, the other two guests and I walked up a small hill while Jake drove his truck up to the top. By the time we got there, about 10 mins later, Jake had the chairs set up and a fire going. I have always wanted to see Vegas from this perspective and for those with better cameras than mine, you will get excellent pictures (though even mine captured a few) so I was not disappointed at all! Overlooking the valley, seeing the city lights, stars, and the moon rising was so peaceful and scenic--factoring in also that Jake did not rush us in and out, we were able to really enjoy the view and the fire, feeling very relaxed by the time we left. We sat around the fire, had some smores and the group dynamic was wonderful---I am sure the valley below was wondering where all that laughter was coming from. The fire, setting, conversations, laughter made this for me an excellent Airbnb experience. I even loved afterwards having some of the campfire smoke smell on my jacket as it brought back memories of bonfire nights as a child. Jake is very personable and I would recommend this for anyone who likes nature, nice views and a break from the regular Strip walking.

Jake is one of the most brilliant down-to-earth tour guides I have ever met. We started a bonfire and he taught me how to make S'mores - an American traditional snack. To me it was a unique experience that we got to know each other and talked about other aspects of life as well. He really put effort into making you feel comfortable and enjoyed doing so as he loves being with people. Don't get "stucked" in the tourist's areas and get yourself out of the borders! Do differently and give this experience a try. It's worth every penny!!!
