What you'll do

Descubre la Barcelona más oculta sin censuras

We will visit the most multicultural, dangerous, and exciting neighborhood of Barcelona: El Raval. Getting to know its history and learn about the uncensored underground Barcelona.

Exploring the most interesting places of El Raval starting at Plaza Catalunya, where we are going to talk about the history of the city, and then enter and explore the small streets of Raval. Learning about the different community and political movements such as anarchism, the independence movement, and squatter societies.

Talking about topics such as sex, drugs, street art, rumba catalana and immigration, as we go deeper into the most emblematic streets of the neighborhood.

I have been a citizen of Barcelona for over 18 years, I studied Political Science in Montevideo and am currently studying Sociology in the Universitat Oberta de Catalunya, also I am a youth basketball referee.

I am passionate about history and love sharing it with others, that's why i have worked as a tour guide for several years and I love doing it. I like to show visitors the perspective of a local, so that they can understand and live the city better.

This experience gives me the opportunity to combine these activities with the passion to show the city where I have chosen to live.

Gerardo has a deep and varied knowledge of Barcelona and gave us a unique perspective on El Raval and Barcelona subculture, a real insider's perspective. He also pointed out a couple of great bars which we ended up in later :)

Gerardo gave an awesome tour of more in-depth Barcelona outside of the Gothic quarter and Born areas. I would have never known about these art galleries of the local street artists or known about Top Manta if wasn't for him! Highly recommend if you are into the street art. Gerardo knowledge of all the artists and the meanings behind the work made this experience much more enjoyable.
