What you'll do

I will show the city that does not appear in the tourist guides, we will discover the most multicultural, dangerous, and exciting neighborhood of Barcelona: El Raval.
We will walk through its streets explaining the history of an area standing up against gentrification and touristification. To understand the present and get to know the different urban tribes of El Raval.
Learning about the different community and political movements such as anarchism, feminism, H.I.J.O.S., and squatter societies (Movimiento Okupa).
Talking about topics such as sex, drugs, street art, graffiti, skateboarding, and immigration, we will see the most supportive, anti-fascist, anti-racist, and diverse areas in the city; as we go deeper into the most emblematic streets of the neighborhood.
Other things to note: photos must be taken discreetly with the pre-authorization of the guide.
The route may change due to Covid-19.

I have been a citizen of Barcelona since 2002, I studied Political Science in Montevideo and am currently studying Sociology at the Universitat Oberta de Catalunya, also I am a youth basketball referee.

I am passionate about history and love sharing it with others, that's why I have worked as a tour guide for several years and I love doing it. I like to show visitors the perspective of a local so that they can understand and live the city better.

This experience gives me the opportunity to combine these activities with my passion to show the city where I have chosen to live.

Gerardo's tour was fantastic! It was fun to see parts of the city that I might otherwise not have explored, and with someone who clearly knew it very well and is embedded in the community. By the end of it I felt like I had followed my friend around his neighborhood for a couple of hours and had a better understanding of the city and people that surrounded me. Highly recommend!

Muy buen tour. Divertido, interesante y muy conectado con la realidad de la ciudad. Se nota que lo hace un local que sabe de la ciudad

This was a great way to get to know a different side of Barcelona that you wouldn’t otherwise hear about or know information about! It felt like meeting up with a friend and was a great way to spend our last day in the city

Gerardo is dynamic and knows a lot about the underground culture of Barcelona. This is certainly a unique tour that will open your eyes to the little details you miss when you are just a tourist in a new city.

NOT YOUR AVERAGE TOUR. Gerardo is an incredible guide-- somebody that has truly used his life experiences to shape the way he interacts with the community. He walks the walk and talks the talk of this diverse and international area. And this tour reflects his earnest and heartfelt devotion to the local community. 10/10 and will definitely take this tour again next time I get the chance.
