What you'll do
★Bukchon Hanok Village is on every guide book but in this tour, we'll take you on a 2 hours adventure to explore the hidden hanok village in Seoul that is often missed by travelers.
▶Hidden Hanok Village: Seochon
Seochon is located in Jongno-gu, one of the oldest neighborhoods in Seoul. It resembles the old Seoul with hanoks (traditional Korean houses) along its many alleys. Interesting boutique shops, lovely cafes and art galleries have emerged over the years, making it a favourite place for leisure walk among the locals.
1. Sangchonjae
We will start our journey at Sangchonjae, a hanok cultural space where we can admire ondol-
Korea’s unique heating technology and Hangul- the Korean alphabet.
2. Suseongdong
Then we will walk thourgh the hidden alley of Seochon until Suseongdong, a valley named for noisy water sound in Joseon Dynasty. The valley was loved by numerous poets and painters for its excellent scenery. Located at the foothill of Inwangsan Mountain, we'll enjoy amazing view of nature and Seoul's landmark- Namsan Tower.
3. Yi Sang-beom’s House
The house is a typical urban Hanok composed of ㄱ-shape main building and ㅡ-shape servant’s house. We'll admire Korean painter Yi Sang-beom's beautiful paintings.
The adventure continues with a walk in the maze of 600 hanok where we'll pass by many hidden cafes and boutiques, as well as the oldest bookstore in Seoul.

Kay gave me a great insight into the West Village - from it's history & poets to it's hiking trails & quirky shops. Great way to spend an afternoon & I left feeling I knew a bit more about Korea on a very local & personalised level. Thanks!

Our experience with Kay was amazing and a real highlight of our time in Seoul. She was a wonderful host who really took the time to make our experience personal and special, and went out of her way for us. We couldn’t have been more pleased with it and we would thoroughly recommend the experience to anyone who is considering it!

Kay is very patient and kind. She wants her guests to experience the authentic food and places that only locals know. As the stores in the market were mostly closed on the first day of Seollal, she made special arrangement to fit the guests' schedule on the next day. I had a one-to-one session with her in the morning and she felt like a friend to me sharing her knowledge and stories about the secret alleys, cafes and food around the Seochon Hanok Village. This tour is highly recommended!

It was a very pleasant experience in a neighborhood that I would have missed out without Kay's guidance. She was very friendly, knowledgeable and made sure everyone was engaged in the tour. You can tell she loves meeting new people and showing travelers her favourite places in Seoul. The food was delicious and the vendors all knew Kay! My favourite was kimchi pancake and japchae. Highly recommend Kay's experience if you want try authentic Korean food and explore a secret neighborhood that cannot be found on your typical guide book!
