What you'll do

Have you ever experienced Christmas in Stockholm? The falling snowflakes light up the Nordic winter darkness and the smell of roasted almonds hit you as you wander down the streets of Stockholm.

During your walking tour of cosy Gamla Stan, you will learn about where the custom of placing advent candles in the window comes from, what a julbord is, who the bearer of light is and what Swedish Santa looks like. In other words - what Christmas in Stockholm looks like for a Swede, and how they get their Christmas spirit going. No Christmas walking tour would be complete without a stop to a local Christmas market, and it just so happens that the main square in the Old Town, Stortorget, has their very own (which we recommend to return to after the tour). Lucky us!

When the wintry breeze of Jack Frost’s breath hits your skin, we’ll make a stop inside, treating you to a taste of non-alcoholic glögg, or mulled wine, which will make you all warm and fuzzy inside again. And who can say no to a gingerbread cookie to dip in their mulled wine?
Can you feel it in the air?!
Other things to note
The majority of this tour takes place in areas where you will have to walk on cobblestones. We suggest wearing warm and comfortable shoes and clothes in many layers since the majority of this tour is outdoors, walking at a slow pace and stopping at various sights.

I'm the founder of OURWAY Tours, specialising guided tours within Scandinavia. I started in Stockholm, 2011, as a qualified guide with the question: What do people enjoy when they travel? The answer we found, is to: "Meet the people, try the food, live the stories" and so that's what we do.

Our team of handpicked locals want nothing more than to share their love for the city with you.

In short, we give you "people, places, and culture—the local way".

Where you'll be

The walk takes place in the Old Town, where we will use all of our senses. We will make multiple stops throughout the Old Town and mix the general stops with visits to sites that are often difficult to find or overlooked by visitors.

A nice Christmas tour, the guide was informative and made an effort but nothing memorable for me unfortunately. His sense of humour - ironic, slightly sarcastic at times - just killed the Christmas Spirit.

It wasn't Natalie but Christoph who led the tour. Got a bit cold with standing but it was evening and a cold day!
