What we’ll do

Let’s explore Kamakura, the home of Japan's first shogunate (military government), and the country's capital from 1188 to 1333. I'll explain the history and culture of this important era. We'll visit Tsurugaoka Hachimangu-gu Shrine, built by the first shogun, Yoritomo Minamoto, followed by a walk down Komachi-dori, Kamakura’s famous shopping street. Where you'll be

We'll meet at JR Kamakura station, East exit at 11am. It’s about 45-55 minutes from major Tokyo stations (Tokyo, Ikebukuro, Shinjuku, Shibuya, Shinagawa). I'll send you a recommended train schedule from your point of departure in Tokyo should you need it. The Experience will include visits to temples, shrines, and gardens, a walk down Kamakura's famous shopping streets, the beach, and a ride on a scenic railway train.
