What you'll do

I would like to share my passion for classical music and dive into the world of Viennese classical music together with you for one evening. Together with my colleagues, we as Mozart Ensemble Vienna play impressive pieces of Viennese classical music. Be enchanted by the world of classical music and immerse yourself mentally in the time in which the great masters of Viennese classical music worked!

There is no better place for this than the Sala Terrena, where our concerts take place. The Sala Terrena is the oldest concert hall in Vienna and serves as a perfect atmosphere to put us into the time of Mozart, Schubert or Beethoven. At the time, Mozart himself played in this historic place and earned his living for his first apartment in Vienna. The Sala Terrena, which is only a few minutes' walk away from St. Stephen's Cathedral, also impresses with its beautiful frescos with late venetian renaissance style.

My name is Claudio, I am a professional violinist and founder of the string quartet Mozart Ensemble Vienna.
Already as a child, I discovered my passion for classical music and - inspired by Viennese classical music - I started to play the violin in my native country Brazil. At the age of 19, I moved to Vienna, the city of classical music. Here in 1991, I founded the Mozart Ensemble Vienna, which is now known through numerous appearances on the national and international stage.

Where you'll be

The Sala Terrena can only be visited during a concert; it is not open for other visits. The hall was extensively renovated for more than a year until the beginning of April 2019. Now the Sala Terrena shines in new splendor and is just waiting to take its visitors into the world of classical music. In order to make the stay as pleasant as possible for visitors, air conditioning was also installed.

The music was competent (and Mozart is always magical) but we were literally packed into a closed room shoulder to shoulder. Even in pre-pandemic times it would have been too crowded. We both had to concentrate on the music to ward off claustrophobia and not visualize germs floating through the stuffy air!

Amazing concert! Musicians were so talented, and one of them was a lady who felt the instrument so deeply, all 2 hours I was looking at her emotions while she was playing….. But it was very difficult to find a place, so I would recommend to come earlier in order to have time to find a place.

Great concert! Only thing I wish they’d have done to improve the experience was to introduce the musicians and music, or discuss the pieces and periods they came from because there was very little hosting or commentary.

A truly amazing experience listening to the music of Mozart where Mozart actually lived and played. Felt magical almost being a part of the history. The only negative was how many people were crammed into the venue, especially in the current Covid climate...there definitely should have been more social distance.

תחשבו על זה, לשמוע קונצרט של רבעיית מיתרים באולם שבו ניגן מוצארט. האולם לא השתנה ונראה כמו לפני 250 שנה.

Absolutely amazing experience - was in town with some friends and randomly came across this option. Would recommend to anyone who enjoys music even a little bit - comes with a bit of history chat and the music was incredible.
