Abdullah is a friendly and engaging host who knows a lot about Zanzibar. That said, sometimes I felt like his vast knowledge and enthusiasm for his hometown made the tour seem kind of random and prone to tangents. I enjoyed the trip out to the spice farm. It was great to see common (and uncommon) spices in their raw form. Although the tour was described accurately, I would have enjoyed some connection between the Stone Town and farm parts of the tour. Perhaps an explanation of how spices were part of Zanzibar's role as a trade hub for centuries, or maybe how these spices have been incorporated into traditional (and modern) Swahili cuisine? Maybe there's a spice shop in Stone Town, or buildings that once played an important role in the spice trade? Anyhow, maybe just a personal preference. I have no doubt that Abdullah will continually improve his tour and wish him all the best!

Abdullah was a joy! He is quite knowledgeable and extremely thorough in the details of Zanzibar’s history, culture, music, food and politics. He is extremely easy going and we were laughing the entire time from the start! He went above and beyond ensuring we had everything needed for a quick coffee break to a couple of stops not part of the tour. Zanzibar would not have been nearly as fun without him!

Airbnb's "survey" does not allow feedback that captures commentary on the experience in a fair way. In the star rating, to go from "it was OK" to "excellent" is a big leap with no choice in between (not an effective feedback tool). Dulah was a wonderful young man, with a true desire to provide a quality tour. He is smart, engaging and friendly and was very patient with out tour group. We had a private tour and wanted to change things up a bit, so I think that impacted the cadence as we moved slower than expected to get to what we wanted to see versus what the tour outlined. Overall, I would 100% recommend Dulah as a tour guide specifically, he knows Zanzibar, its history, loves his island and wants guests to his country to understand where they have come from as a people and where they are headed. He is a professional and represents Zanzibar well!
