What you'll do

Guests will be welcomed to the gorgeous new Café Noir, redesigned for 2020: a jungle lounge in the middle of Parque Lleras, Medellín where local baristas educate guests on the fascinating beginnings and history of the company's unique coffee brand; the only one sourced from a community high in the hills of Medellín previously stigmatized by violence, now living the dream of a safer neighborhood with a thriving coffee business. Guests can sample and learn the details of what makes a phenomenal coffee in its various forms (from V60 to Aeropress to espressos) and why it is important to know where the product you enjoy comes from. At Café Noir we believe that our one specialty coffee is all that is needed and that various beans, roasts, and designs can detract from the experience of enjoying a quality, unique coffee with a history of love. Guests can ask questions, enjoy the multiple presentations and versions of our specialty coffee, as well as any complimentary coffee of their choice outside the tastings. We encourage guests to seize the opportunity to stay and relax, work, or take part in the other experiences offered by Café Noir such as an extensive list of our very own California wines, innovative cuisine, and creative cocktails. Guests will be offered a discount on the purchase of bags of coffee to take as a souvenir with them.

With over a decade of experience in hospitality, restaurant and wine industries in California, I am the founder and CEO of a leading lifestyle brand called Chateau De Noir. We design luxury properties to showcase our unique style and produce our own line of wines, coffee, and skincare products which are now featured in our first retail location in Medellín, Colombia as well as our properties around the world. Born and raised in Napa, California I spent years learning the wine and hospitality industries. Now based in Medellín Colombia, we have focused our efforts on bringing a uniquely American experience to this beautiful region, hungry for both luxury and new experiences. Our coffee is the only coffee grown in the city of Medellín and we are extensively trained in our coffee to provide a truly unique experience for Medellín visitors.

The coffee experience was great! It's set at the back of a boutique, which is unusual but also really unique. The barista wasn't expecting me when I arrived, but he quickly made me feel welcome and set everything up. He had some interesting stories to share and I'm happy I did this.

Host did not arrive. There was no coffee information beyond being able to order coffee off a menu. Coffee was good. No English is spoken.

Great experience! Cafe Noir is gorgeous and the coffee was excellent. I learned a ton about different brewing methods and flavors, and we had some excellent food and wine at the cafe afterwards.

I had a wonderful time tasting their coffee. They served coffee in four different ways highlighting the differences in flavor and aroma. It was inspiring to see how those differences in preparation can result in stronger or weaker bitterness and/or aroma. Just a quick note - you will take a lot of caffeine so be prepared ;-) Later I actually returned to the cafe for the wine from their family business in Napa, California. Not only was the quality of wine great, but they served their wine with attention to details such as temperature, which is not always the case in the region. Their Chardonnay was buttery, rich in flavor and aroma, like in Bourgone style. I would highly recommend this place.
