What you'll do

This tasting experience is an ideal introduction to the culture of mezcal. We will begin with a talk where you will learn about the historical context of the spirit, the various types of agave that are used for its elaboration, and the biocultural and social processes that occur to obtain traditional mezcal.

Each mezcal you will try is made by small producers or producing families from different regions of Oaxaca. You will observe mezcal from a deeper point of view, respecting the tradition of its production and the vibrant Oaxacan culture that encompasses it. Your senses will be opened while appreciating all the flavors, aromas and textures that traditional mezcal offers.

In hosting this tasting, I strive to make new friends who seek more familiarity with my beloved Oaxaca City via a more personal experience full of complex flavors and rich history. I will guide you and recommend events and places of interest to make your time in Oaxaca unforgettable.

Welcome to Oaxaca and the magic of mezcal. It will be a pleasure to share them with you.

I'm Edgar, Dentistry by profession, however for the last 4 years I have dedicated myself to following my passion, learning and sharing the culture of Mezcal, I am a traditional Mezcales selector in a Mezcalería focused on the dissemination and appreciation of the drink, also creator of audiovisual content for a better appreciation and tasting of this spirit, I have learned from the hand of mezcalilleros, promoters, civil associations, and academics dedicated to spreading this culture which has led me to be part of different projects.
Throughout this time I have knitted ties with Mezcaleras families and communities, learning the customs and traditions that surround this emblematic drink from a social and economic point of view of solidarity with the small producers of mezcal

Edgar confirmed our booking and didn’t bother turning up or responding to our messages we are now seeking a refund. Luckily, Juan Carlos was there, running his mezcal tasting and was kind enough to let us join in. He was fantastic make sure you book with him instead.

We thoroughly enjoyed our mezcal tasting!m with Edgar! We learned so much about the process and what sets apart craft mezcal from commercially produced mezcal. We would definitely do this again and highly recommend to others.

Edgar really knew his stuff! Very educational and an interesting and insightful way to understand the culture of Mezcal when we didn’t have time to go out and visit the producers directly.

The location was nice and cosy. It was very nice to get to taste the different types of mezcal, but we wished it had been more structured. The maps were very cool, and the tasting of the mezcal worm powder was delicious. All in all a good time, but a bit rushed and we wished we had received more information about the mezcal and it’s history! It felt that Edgar was more interested in our previous knowledge on mezcal and immediate taste reaction. Would still recommend!

Edgar was very welcoming, made us very comfortable. He was pretty knowledgeable and could explain everything in English, which was easier for the group. He had us taste 4 mezcals instead of 3. His experience was interesting and informative. Would recommend!
