What you'll do
La Jolla is one of the most popular & breath taking beaches in San Diego. Noted by a series of caves created by the Pacific Ocean, where we can observe seals, sea lions, turtles, harmless leopard sharks & an abundance of fish. Sharks, turtles, all other wildlife & water visibility & conditions vary each day. Mother Ocean can be VERY unpredictable.
Sea lions AKA " the dogs of the sea" are behaviorally pretty social & may swim/play around kayakers & snorkelers along the reefs.
After a brief safety & snorkel etiquette talk, we will explore the area. I will point out local animal species & provide detailed information about them.
Respect for all creatures is necessary, as we are in their "house" not ours. The San Diego-La Jolla Underwater Park & Ecological Reserve spans about 6,000 acres of ocean bottom & tidelands, from Scripps Park at La Jolla Cove, north across La Jolla Shores to the end of Torrey Pines State Reserve. As a “look-but-don’t-touch” ecological refuge, the park is an ecological haven & has become a popular destination for snorkelers, scuba divers and kayakers.

**If the time/date listed doesn't work for you I can be flexible with availability on most days.**

I am a San Diego native, yogi & marine science nerd. I have led countless kayaking, snorkeling & diving adventures all around San Diego. If I'm not in the ocean surfing, diving or snorkeling I'm near it weather it be exploring hidden sea caves, seeking tide pools, lobster hoop netting or educating myself all about it. I love sharing unique experiences with those who have similar adventurous souls. Not many know about all of the hidden & amazing marine life San Diego has to offer. There's nothing like having a local be your guide in this beautiful paradise I call home.

Where you'll be
1100 Coast Boulevard, La Jolla Cove ranked top 10 in the world to swim, snorkel & dive. La Jolla is an open-ocean snorkel, so there will be waves, currents & swell. Recommended for moderate to advanced swimmers & snorkelers. Mother Nature will sometimes not make it safe &/or have poor water visibility, every day is different. Tours might be cancelled or rescheduled the same day or days in advance.

So, we actually ended up doing a sea kayak instead since the conditions for snorkeling weren't good, but I'm unable to change what my review is for...regardless, Danielle was a wonderful kayaking host and I'm sure she'd be great guiding snorkeling, too! She is very knowledgeable about the area and you can tell how passionate she is. That made it a great experience. Thanks, Danielle!

Danielle was a lovely tour- energetic, informative and fun! A native to the San Diego area, she knows all there is to know not only about the waters around La Jolla, but about the history of the city as well. My brother, boyfriend and I had signed up for the Sea Lion Snorkel but due to the weather (was a bit wavy) Danielle happily switched us last minute to the Kayak tour. We had a great time paddling around the La Jolla caves, although we didn't see any wildlife. We were hoping to see some turtles, sea lions and/or dolphins but the waves just didn't allow for it. Know that these animals due frequent the waters and are seen most times, but not all. Would gladly join Danielle for another tour next time we are back in San Diego!

Danielle is super friendly, and she knows the area like the back of her hand. I really enjoyed the experience because she gave us the perfect amount of guidance and space to explore the surroundings. The area is beautiful and there is no lack of wildlife.

Danielle knows a lot about the ocean in La Jolla! A great experience to get to know the area as well as have some fun. We saw sea lions, pelicans, and fish in the water. Danielle brought her GoPro which will be great memories to look back on. If you want to go snorkeling around San Diego, book this!
