What you'll do

Join me for a fun and interactive cooking class making Caribbean and West Indian dishes! You'll be greeted by the sounds of Soca, Calypso, Reggae, or Dancehall music to set the vibes. The menu for the night will consist of 2-3 traditional dishes or we'll add a twist. As we prepare our food, I'll share more about me and the history behind the dishes. I'll take it step-by-step making this experience enjoyable for beginners or experts. We'll dance as our food is cooking, mix and mingle, and enjoy what we've prepared. At the end of the night, we'll take pictures and everyone will have a recipe card (via email)! Oh yeah, it's BYOB!

New York City is a melting pot! There are people from all over the world making New York one of the best places to try new cuisines. If you ever been to Brooklyn, you know Caribbean and West Indian food is very popular!
Hi, my name is Chef Dani and I am the owner of Rel' Eats. I was fortunate enough to be raised by a family who loved to cook and bonded over stories of growing up in the Caribbean and West Indies while cooking traditional recipes.
For the last 2 years, I've been sharing my love for cooking with people of all backgrounds and cooking abilities. I've hosted and catered events as well as private cooking lessons. Now I take pride in these traditional recipes and honor them by recreating dishes with Caribbean-fusion. Join me Chef Dani and learn to cook 2-3 dishes that'll introduce you to island flavor!

If you're contemplating booking this experience, think no further and just pull the trigger. You will not regret it at all! I booked a cooking experience with Danielle for my 24th birthday and I couldn't have asked for a better experience or night. It was sooo much fun! First of all, the space that we cooked in was a cross between comfort/cozy and chic NYC loft pad. The place was spacious and airy and was perfect for us to spread out, get comfortable and most importantly socially distance. When we first walked in, we were greeted by a very happy and welcoming Danielle and ushered into the kitchen where our ingredients were laid out beautifully and organized into stations for prepping the meal. As the night progressed, we sipped on some amazing rum punch, engaged in light hearted conversation and learned a lot of information about the history of the meal we were creating, different names for the ingredients being used and ways to cut down on cooking time. This felt less like a class and more like a group of friends gathered together to cook and eat. Considering that the experience is BYOB, toward the end of the night we were a little woozy lol but Danielle was great at directing us without feeling overbearing or bossy. She was hospitable, kind, and answered all of our questions all night. I realize that I haven't even gotten to the food because the experience alone was outstanding. But, the food? Aww man. The BEST rasta pasta I've ever had in my life and that's saying a lot coming from a Caribbean NYC resident! We were all able to take home leftovers and I was luckily able to share some with my family when I got home and my brother has been begging me to make this pasta ever since. I definitely plan on it! I'm going to tell everyone I know to book with Danielle either for a cooking class or for catering (because she does both). I also highly recommend ordering her spices because her homemade mango salsa was *chefs kiss.* I hope this review convinces you to book her because everyone should experience this at least once. Thank you Danielle!

Danielle was amazing and super friendly! You can tell that she has a passion for cooking. Another amazing part of the experience is just the people you're able to connect with. There was a sense of comfort and cohesiveness within the room. Danielle made us all feel apart and encouraged our interactions as opposed to forcing all of the attention to be on her and her expertise. This was a really great experience that I'd definitely do again!

This was an awesome experience with Dani for a couple of reasons. First - she makes you feel really comfortable around her as well as any others who are taking the cooking class with her super friendly personality. She creates a vibe that gets you into the experience with music, rum punch and amazing environment in a dope Brooklyn space. We also liked that she creates a recipe that you can make at home and makes it super easy to learn how to make it. She's super passionate about cooking and sharing her culture, which makes you get passionate about it and to top it off - the food came out amazing! Would def recommend.

It was such a great experience. We made jerk chicken, rice and peas, cabbage and Occra. She shared a little about how she got into cooking and you can really tell she has a passion for what she does. The music was also real amazing. Such a great thing to do as a birthday event.

Cooking with Chef Danny was a great experience. I always enjoyed Carribean food but never tried cooking it. She made cooking a foreign cuisine look easy. The experience was informative, comfortable and really fun. I am looking forward to trying to cook some jerk chicken at home for my friends and family. The location was great and easy to get to.
