What you'll do

Our tearoom is in Shoseikaku, which stands in Higo Hosokawa garden developed by Samurai feudal lords almost 300 years ago. You’ll hear little birds chirping and the sound of stream in the garden with abundant greenery and seasonal flowers around a large pond. You would forget that you are in the heart of Tokyo because of the serenity. Join us for the unique experience of the tea ceremony with the same atmosphere as the one cherished by Samurai in this hidden gem. 1. Get to know the history and the Zen spirit behind the tea ceremony. 2. Learn about the manners in the tea ceremony including how to drink a bowl of tea formally. Our experience is suitable for beginners. 3. Participate in the tea ceremony, which has been passed down over 500 years. During the ceremony you’ll taste the Japanese traditional sweets to enhance the flavour of green tea which will follow. 4. Make your own bowl of green tea with us in a relaxed atmosphere after the tea ceremony. You’ll end with a pleasant stroll in the Japanese garden and be ready to be surprised by many hidden meanings of the garden.
