What you'll do

We'll meet at the trailhead for Wheeler Peak on the Twining Road just above the Taos Ski Valley, gearing up to snowshoe from there to Williams Lake. Once we arrive at the lake, we'll enjoy some hot cider, before returning to our cars via the same route we came. Dogs welcome!

I'll bring water to the trail head for you to fill water bottles- it's dry at this altitude! I'll also provide hot cider and…

Where you'll be

Beautiful Williams Lake is situated at 11,040' in elevation, admidst groves of Aspen and ponderosa pines that are breathtaking in any season. The lake itself is flanked by the towering Sangre de Cristos and views of Wheeler Peak, NM's highest! Trail is 4.2 miles round trip. There's an option to not snowshoe all the way to the lake if the distance feels far to you; the forest at lower elevations between the trailhead and the lake is also stunning.
