Be a Gaucho for a Day

Palermo, Argentina

Experience hosted by Guillermo

  1. 10 hours
  2. Hosted in English

What you'll do

Arriving at our "local cowboy" (gaucho) town "the cradle of argentine tradition” (110km or 68 miles away from the City of Buenos Aires), we'll introduce you to the local people, their uses/customs, visiting old gaucho´s bars and a prestigious silversmith workshop, for about an hour and a half.

Estancia: After a 15 minutes drive in a dirt road we will arrive at the historical authentic ranch: with nearly 350 cattle, 80 horses, sheep, crops and a big park surrounding the main family house, which is the quintessence of "the Pampas history".

You'll be received with a still warm recently cooked angus beef empanada and a drink to start the slow process of relaxing in the Estancia.

We will introduce you to every gaucho and their stories.
Also: the fragrant grill and how is the process of cooking beef by the gauchos.

Horseback riding: lead by the gauchos and into the lush farmlands, that hosts birds, streams, cows and more horses

The most typical Argentine slow cooking beef barbecue lunch (asado) will be served.

Ending the lunch with some live folkloric music and dancing performed by the gauchos.

With a unique closure of a gaucho demonstration of his skills on horseback.
Minimum people booking together: TWO people

Raised in a farm in las Pampas de Argentina: San Antonio de Areco.

Love to spend everyday in the countryside with friends, horses an nature!

Actively participating in the community´s social life (and really enjoying it...), I realized that:
The next step should be sharing my passion about our historical town and the cultural legacy of gauchos (also some wonderful beef...) with people around the world!!!

And then called this Experience: "Be a Gaucho for a Day"

Also a registered tour guide specialized in this experience, happily practicing the gaucho hospitality for the last 10 years.

We are also running this Experience with Laura and Juan Manuel: both amazing tour guides specialized in our Gaucho town and Estancias. We were working together in this Experience for the last 5 years, building up a great team!

Our only interaction with Guillermo was for coordination, but he was very understanding and flexible when weather looked questionable. Our assigned guide Marcelo Alberto was outstanding and made the trip memorable and convenient for our whole family!

Very friendly and personable. Excellent knowledge of the history of the gauchos and the area. Wonderful meal with wine and traditional dancing. If you want a relaxing experience and great history lesson about some of the original settlers of the area, go with this adventure.

This was an incredible experience. The location. The food. The horse riding. Everything was exceptional. Booking private transportation is easy and worth it’s. Stop thinking about it. Just go.

What an amazing experience. I was worried it would be too touristy, but it absolutely was not. The horseback riding and the beautiful lunch we’re highlights... we even got to watch and learn traditional dancing. It was a magical day and I made excellent friends.

This exceeded our expectations! Laura was our guide and she was absolutely exceptional. Every detail was absolute perfection. We highly recommend this experience to anyone visiting Buenos Aires. You won’t regret it! Fabulous way to spend the day!

A fun day out of the city visiting a lovely rural town and a beautiful estancia. I read one previous criticism of the horse ride - but if you’re a novice the 40 minute horse ride on a thankfully very well trained horse was more than enough action! The beautiful grounds of the historic estancia, the meal and the outdoor show of dancing and gaucho and his horse were laid back and very enjoyable. Yes it’s aimed at tourists - but guess what! We’re tourists! A delightful day. Our driver Jose to and from Buenos Aires was also very informative.
