What you'll do

Baby goats are here! Guests arrive at the main barn (and are happily greeted by our giant white fluffy livestock dog Runa). After a brief orientation for the bathroom (outhouse), sign a release and answer initial questions, the guests will be introduced to the herd in their pen or pasture. The barn pen is used during bad weather, the pasture during warm dry weather. Guests cannot enter the pen for health and safety reasons, but can pet adults and hold as many babies as desired. In the pasture, guests may enter the pasture to pet goats and hold babies. Carrie will give the breed history, as well as talk about shows, production goats, and heritage preservation, the 3 branches of Fainting Goat breeding. Finally, Carrie will talk about Barakah Farm's unique approach to goat care, practiced on only a handful of Fainting Goat farms and described in her book The Energetic Goat. When there are babies, goat cuddling is encouraged!
Guests are invited to ask questions at any time during the discussion.
Finally, Carrie will answer any last questions at the goat pen. We hope you leave with a greater appreciation of rare breed preservation, the role of goats in a healthy farm, and the unique and loving personalities of these conscious beings.
You can see our goats on any popular social media or our website barakah.farm The farm is not ADA compliant. No pets.

Super cool experience to share with my 4 year old daughter. Carrie was a great host, very down to earth and you can tell his much she cares for the goats. They were so cute and had wonderful temperaments. The location is pretty remote, so prepare for that, but it's a beautiful drive and hanging out with the sweet goats is worth it!

I am from Buffalo, NY. My girlfriend and I had a wedding near Gettysburg. On our way home to buffalo we made reservations to come to the farm, and see the fainting goats. One of the things I liked the most was her clear explanation of what was to be expected, driving instructions, weather, wifi disconnection Etc. Carrie was extremely educational and we learned a lot about the history, genetics and heritage of the farm, and farm animals that reside their. Carrie beams with pride and love for her animals. It is obvious by her demeanor, show of passion when she is talking about them, handling them, always with a positive calm loving nurturing manner. I know the review should be all about the animals.... but I feel it is just as important, if not more... should be about the people who take care of them. I will definitely be coming back to this farm. The 4 hour drive will be worth it. I know my children will love it. I am excited for their new sage and lavender garden they are preparing for. I am also excited about the “glamping” experience that they can provide and you can book. Last but not least my favorite...... their bathroom stall in the barn, is lined with a garbage bag with cat litter sitting in the bottom. With a bucket of cat litter on the side. I thought this was a FANTASTIC idea, and I don’t know why I never thought of it before!

Carrie was a wonderful tour guide and host. We were running late and she was flexible with pushing our tour to a later time. Her farm and the animals are beautiful!

We loved every minute of our time with Carrie and her adorable goats! Carrie is the perfect host -- she is incredibly knowledgeable and provides a fascinating education about the fainting goats, but she is also very responsive to her guests' interests and questions. I loved how she interacted with the goats, who are clearly well loved and taken care of. She helped the goats get comfortable with my daughter and me, and we had such a magical experience interacting with 5-year-old Jasper and several of the adorable babies. My daughter just sat there beaming and snuggling the babies the entire time. Runa the farm dog also made sure to get lots of belly rubs from us and make us feel welcome. As soon as we got in the car to leave, my daughter asked when we could come back again. It's a delight to see such a well-run, humane, kind family farm taking such good care of the animals and giving visitors a chance to learn more. Can't wait to go again!
