Guest must provide their own transportation.

Hikes are customized to one's level of experience or comfort. If there are any health issues or concerns please inform me in advance. We will hike anywhere from a mile to a mile and a half.

The hike will start with an introduction honoring the ancestral homelands of the area and a safety tailgate. We will be hiking in some stunning areas while learning about desert ecology, native flora, plant ID using morphological characteristics, and learning of traditional, modern uses of the indigenous plants. You will have the opportunity to taste some of the herbal preparations I have made with the cultivated flora and re-engage the sense of smell and taste to identity herbal energetics, thermal energetics, learning how to identify uses based upon organoleptic testing.

There is no wild harvesting of any flora.

Closing the plant hike, I will be guiding you on how to create your own herbal electuary using sustainably cultivated palm-based vegetable glycerin as the menstruum (solvent) with a plant that I will provide.

CAN I BRING MY DOG?
No dogs. There is a dog daycare located in Joshua Tree called Joshua Tree Pet Resort

I had a wonderful time learning all about the plants of the desert and their many uses. We saw so many different plants on the hike with a mix of altitudes due to the perfect selection of the trail. Christina is so knowledgeable about the current and historical uses for everything from cacti to piñon and cares so much for the land and the Joshua Trees. This was an amazing experience if you want to truly appreciate the land!

Absolutely a MUST. I could not recommend this experience more!! Christina is so thoughtful in the way she plans everything out, detailed in her explanations, and so patient with all/any questions you may have. If you are visiting Joshua Tree for the first time like we were, or maybe it’s your 50th time here - this experience gives you a deeper, more connected understanding to the land and all the beautiful walks of life that grow here. We left with an even deeper respect for JT and nature itself. Thank you Christina for making the start to my birthday so incredible!!!! 1000% the highlight of our trip here!
