What you'll do

I will teach you how to ferment your own vegetables. First, we'll start with fresh herbal tea or coffee at my home as we get acquainted. Then we will crack on and get stuck in by tasting a range of fermented vegetables and fruits, to get you familiar with the taste and smells of this amazingly beneficial condiment. I'll tell you why it's so good for you and how you might incorporate it into your daily diet. Then I'll teach you how to make your own - we will chop and grate and squeeze, mix and pack. We'll talk about what to do to continue the fermenting process at home and run through some trouble-shooting, just in case. It is my intention to inspire you with a handout full of recipes, as well as you taking away your own fermenting vegetables for the start of your fermenting journey.

I qualified as a medical herbalist with a first class BSc honours degree from Lincoln University in 2011 and I am a professional member of the National Institute of Medical Herbalists. I practice in two clinics locally and I run the Lincoln Fermenting Group. I love to encourage and empower people on their own wellness journey, and my particular passion is growing or wild foraging, picking and making nutritious and delicious things to eat, drink or apply!

Where you'll be

This experience is undertaken at my home, which is a converted barn in the countryside. If the weather is good enough, we might spend time outside in the garden too (where I grown my veggies). We have a cat (I'm just telling you this in case you are allergic to cats!).

If you get lost, go to Norton Disney village. Leave the village with the pub The Green Man on your left hand side. Continue back down Newark Road for about 1 mile. The drive with the white fence is then on your right, with the redundant farm buildings on the left beyond.
