What you'll do

I will pick you up at the Torre Del Reloj at 8.30 and, after a 10-minute car trip, we will take the boat in which, after about 30 minutes of navigation, we will arrive at a small beach of crystalline waters on the peninsula of Baru
It is a beach where only a few divers go so that, most of the time, we will be alone.
On this beach we can snorkel and enjoy the rich marine life: corals, puffer fish, parrot fish, conch shells, poseidonia ... and, if there is luck, lobsters and rays.
In this beautiful beach we will spend 3 hours approximately.
Then, after a short trip by boat (about 5 minutes) we will visit a sunken ship whose highest part is about 5 meters deep and that you can see from the surface. We will spend about 30 minutes on this visit.
At approximately 12:45 we will go to Playa Linda, on the island of Tierrabomba where you can eat good fish (and at a good price) at the local restaurant (lunch not included). Here you can enjoy an afternoon of beach in the wildest and least known part of the island, visited only by locals.
At 4.30 in the afternoon we will begin the return by boat to Cartagena, from where I will take you to the Torre Del Reloj, where we will arrive at approximately 5.00 pm.

When I was studying I had the great fortune to meet some friends who taught me the underwater world for the first time. Since then, I have been diving in the seas of half the world for more than 30 years. I practice lung diving (apnea) and my passion for the sea has led me to live in several Caribbean countries.
I love teaching to dive (Snorkel or Apnea) to those who have never looked at the underwater world and also teach some tricks to those who already know him.

Where you'll be

First we will take the boat to go snorkeling to a small beach with crystal clear waters on the Baru peninsula, where we will spend the morning.
Then we will see a sunken ship.
Finally, we will eat and spend the afternoon at a beach in the wildest and least known part of the Isla de Tierrabomba (west coast), visited almost exclusively by locals and surrounded by upholstered hills of a splendid green mantle of vegetation.

Terrific experience. My wife and I hadn’t been snorkeling in years so this was a nice way to ease into it again. Rafael was wonderfully attentive to our needs in the water, showing and encouraging us to dive and explore the coral more closely. Afterward we rested on the beach and local women prepared grilled snapper, coconut rice and patacones for us. Delicious! Although we covered lunch Rafael was really helpful in negotiating a fair price. He and Angel, the boat captain, were flexible about diving spots if there were too many other people there and took us to more secluded areas. Only one note of caution: brush up on your Spanish as Rafael’s English is basic. However, smiles and patience is all you need to communicate.

This was an Air B and B experience like no other! Rafael met us at 8:30am at the clock tower and let us know that the water wasn’t so clear at the original spot for snorkling and that it would be best to go to an island farther out (about 45 mins away), but at no extra cost. He made sure we were ok with this, which is the way in which he handled all decisions during the day. He always talked about options with us and let us decide. 2 out of 4 in our family speak Spanish a bit which helped. Angel, the boat captain was fantastic and we felt safe in his boat even when the waves were a bit rough in the late afternoon. Snorkling with Rafael was fantastic—our young adult sons had never been before and caught on quickly with Rafa’s help. After snorkling, we went to a beach to hang out, drink beer and eat a wonderful lunch of grilled red snapper and coconut rice. Lunch was a bit more expensive than we expected, but Rafael helped with negotiating the final price and everything was delicious! We had the option to do more snorkling in the afternoon but opted not too, as we were tired and ready to get back. We would definitely do this experience again and highly recommend it!
