What you'll do

Come visit this impressive collection of antique breadboards and table accessories in my family home, while enjoying a quintessentially English Cream Tea in the summer, and in the Winter a Belgian-style Hot Chocolate complemented with Apple Tart if you prefer. It's the only antique breadboard museum in the world, and the collection is attractively displayed and professionally lit. Our visitors come to learn about the boards but also celebrate birthdays, reunions, Mother's Day, Valentine's Day, anniversaries and surprise gift experiences! Breadboards date from the 1830s and come in many shapes and sizes, being exquisitely carved with a wide variety of motifs and mottos. Anything from God's goodness, coronations, weddings, birthdays, and harvests are commemorated on them. I have spent 40 years surrounded by this collection, created by my mother, and I am happy to answer any questions. Cream Tea consists of scones, jam and cream and a choice of English teas. Choose your favorite breadboard to present the scones or tart, and drink tea from my grandmother’s best porcelain. We were in Time Out, The Times, BBC Online and Radio 4! I consider it a privilege to open our house to guests who are breadboard enthusiasts, bakers, collectors, museum lovers or fans of The Quirky. This keeps my late mother's passion alive, and I can share all the knowledge I have gained from her as her collection slowly grew over the last 40 years. For more images see our blog: antiquebreadboards.com. I am also pulling together all we know into the first ever book; 'Vintage Breadboards' out in October with Prospect Books!
