What you'll do

We meet up by the two stone pillars at Ingólfur Square. The square named after the first settler of Iceland, Ingólfur Arnarsson, so a perfect setting to start our walk through Icelandic history. From there, we walk to check out his Viking Longhouse, talk about the Icelandic Sagas a little, and discover how Reykjavik came to be. In old town Reykjavik, we will see the oldest house in the city center dating back to 1762, and from the period Reykjavik became a town. We will check out an Elf stone in the city center and give a small glimpse into the mythology of Iceland, Elves & Trolls, and of course, the story of this particular Elf stone. On we walk towards the Reykjavik harbor, admiring the magnificent Harpa concert hall before we walk past the Eagles hill where Icelanders come together on special occasion to celebrate. A stop by the oldest stone house in Reykjavik is in order, built 1770, and there we talk about the story of how Iceland became an independent nation. It's a short walk up the main shopping street to look at the magnificent Hallgrímskirkjachurch, and of course, the topic there is the history of religion in Iceland. A stop by the Reykjavik pond is in order, checking out the birdlife, The Reykjavik city council building, and admiring the scenery. Our Final stop is by the Parliament building of Iceland, where we discuss politics & the guardian spirits ;).

Where you'll be

We want you to feel the unique, friendly atmosphere of our quirky little city, not just to see the most popular tourist attractions. We’ll even have a small lesson on the Icelandic language so you can not only walk with a Viking but talk like one too. We’ll be showing you our favorite places to eat, drink and visit (we also have an intimate knowledge of happy hour deals that we’re happy to share).
