What you'll do
Learn Chef Ranjan Dey’s signature “Speed Scratch” style of Indian cooking. Tasty, healthy, quick and easy dishes with spices you can find anywhere. Ranjan’s inspiration came from wanting to create the flavorful meals he grew up with but in quick and healthy style. This is a two-to-three hour program which includes a hands-on cooking lesson that ends with a tasting and conversation with Ranjan. The tasting can be paired with dinner, local wine, beer and spirits for an additional charge. No matter where your skill levels are, I promise you will have fun and leave full! A portion of all proceeds is donated to Compassionate Chefs Cafe - a non-profit created to help kids across the street at the Tenderloin After School Program and kids across the ocean at the Gandhi Ashram in Ahmedabad, India. We help disadvantaged kids become citizens of the world through education and music programs. www.CompassionateChefs.org

I am the executive chef and owner of New Delhi Restaurant. New Delhi Restaurant has been serving guests from around the world in the same location for 32 years in San Francisco. We are a Legacy business and the oldest Indian restaurant in San Francisco. I come from a large family in Calcutta where my mother and grandmother taught me how to cook. I learned to cook in the old style from them with a focus on healthy eating, and my passion for cooking was born. I love empowering people to eat better! All changes start from within and what we put in our bodies is the cornerstone of a healthy life. Over my career I worked at several hotel chains in India, Singapore and Hong Kong. I have opened and managed over 40 establishments. I graduated from the Institute of Catering Technology, Hotel Management and Applied Nutrition in Calcutta India.
