What you'll do

Hi everyone, if you have half a day free in Kuala Lumpur, come join this Malaysian home cooking experience in an authentic local suburb that is not frequented by tourists. We will meet at the MRT station in the morning. Together we will walk to the morning bazaar to pick up fresh ingredients, you can take the opportunity to observe the neighbourhood daily life. Then we will head to my home. In my home, I will serve drinks & local snack and introduce Malaysian cuisine to you. We will then cook, set the table and eat together. -The bazaar is only open in the morning. If you come for the evening class, you can still take a stroll at the main street to take a look a the shops and hawker stalls. -Menus will consist of a main dish (usually curry or meat dish), a vegetable dish, an egg/tofu dish and condiments, so it will be a complete meal. Depending on number of participants, we may prepare more side dishes. -Menus will be rotated regularly and we will have seasonal menu. We have so many festival from different culture throughout the year, our menu will reflect the festival so that you will share our joy of celebration! -Please let me know if you are vegan/vegetarian, have allergy or other dietary restriction, we can adjust the menu accordingly.

Learn more about Yee Mun

Yee Mun

Due to my fascination in food, I start to learn cooking at about age of 10. I used to work in the financial industry. I would cook for family and friends during spare times and festive season. Family & friends often commented that my food taste better than those in the restaurants and suggest me to open a restaurant! But I believe that, a part from street food, Malaysian dishes taste the best at home. As cliché as it may sounds, we make the food with love and hence would cook the food patiently in traditional method that brings out the full flavor of the ingredients rather than short-cut methods that is use in some eateries. I would love to share my knowledge on Malaysian cuisine and heritage with you.

Where you'll be

We will meet at the Taman Midah MRT (Mass rapid Transit) station. Taman Midah is a typical suburb in Kuala Lumpur and one of the oldest suburb with town planning. My house is located in 1st floor of a shophouse and about 15 minutes walk from the Taman Midah MRT station. Shophouse is a type of mixed commercial & residential building in Southeast Asia that was built throughout 19 century to mid 20th century.
