What you'll do

I am happy you join this experiencie, please write me a short message before you book it.
My hometown Guayaquil is the “economical capital” of Ecuador and most populated city of the country. I will show you Guayaquil beyond the touristic places, how different social classes are distributed along the city, how we really live in the rich neighborhoods and the poor ones. At the end I will take you to my parents’ house in a very popular neighborhood. During December we can also see the traditional toys called "años viejos" we build to celebrate New Year's Eve.

Where you'll be

We will drive to the north and see the middle class neighborhoods until Plaza Lagos, a very exclusive commercial center located in the wealthy Samborondon (this area is outside Guayaquil). After this, we will finish the tour at my parents house in a very popular neighbordood drinking coffee and eating bolones (typical snack in the coast).

This experience was worth the trip to Guayaquil ALONE and is one of the very best -- if not THE very best -- of the many Airbnb experiences we have done throughout the globe. Sandra is a world class tour guide -- extremely engaging, knowledgeable, intelligent, intuitive, patient, with a wonderful sense of humor on top of it all. We learned more about Guayaquil than we possibly could have on a traditional tour of the city, and meeting Sandra's own family gave us a particularly intimate picture of daily life in Guayaquil. This was an extremely thoughtful and well designed Airbnb experience that took us through the highs and lows of the city and left us feeling a genuine connection to its unique culture. Our only regret is that Sandra does not yet offer even more experiences. Book this one with Sandra -- you won't be sorry! A++

Fantastic tour! Got to see parts of Guayaquil that are really off the beaten track. It gives you a real sense of how people live and the socioeconomic pressures they face

I arrived in guayaquil airport 1pm and got a connecting flight at 10pm. I really appreciate Sandra customized the trip for me and did it in the afternoon. To be honest when i booked i just wanna spend several hours outside the airport and take a few looks of the city before my next flight. But this tour is soooooo much more! Sandra has amazing knowledge about both the city and the country, both in the past and nowadays. I enjoyed talking with her so much and time just flew by! Also sandra's family is lovely. I love the visit to her parents' house and the neighborhood, meeting daddy mommy and Sebastian. its a mind-blowing experience for me although i have been to a couple of mid american country already. Definitely recommend anyone come to guayaquil come meet Sandra and her family of great hospitality. She is the best!

Such an interesting experience! I feel like I got to know Guayaquil on a very different level than I could ever do without actually living here. I’m leaving with a real appreciation of the reality of life in Guayaquil. Sandra and her parents are lovely people and I really enjoyed getting to know them. I highly recommend spending half a day with Sandra and letting her show you the nitty gritty or her city.

Highly recommend this tour with Sandra! Her communication was excellent about the day and our activities and we learned so much about Guayaquil having spent time with her. A highlight for my husband and I was the stop at her childhood home and sharing coffee and Ecuadorian snacks with her mother and father. Sandra is vivacious, well spoken and really made our short visit in Guayaquil special.

Sandra was very welcoming and passionate as soon as I got in the van (picked up at my hotel and a brand new van - perfect!). I was a solo female traveler and there was another couple from the USA on the tour, along with a driver so Sandra could talk to us during our ride. I felt completely safe. Sandra told many stories as we drove through the various neighborhoods of Guayaquil, sharing a lot about the politics of the country and city, and how it has affected the Ecuadorian people over the years. It was great to have a first hand look at areas I never would have seen or known about without Sandra’s knowledge. At the end, we stopped at her parents home for coffee and homemade balon de verde (green plantains with cheese and then boiled - so good!). We had a great conversation with Sandra and her parents and learned a lot about their lives growing up in the area and how it’s changed over the years. What a fabulous tour. I cannot recommend Sandra’s tour enough. If you’re looking for a unique and non-touristic view of this city, this is it! I look forward to staying connected and sharing future stories! Hola a sus parentes!
