What you'll do
We will start with a brief introduction of Nerikiri, a type of Japanese sweet that is made from white bean paste. Nerikiri is a colourful confection that is sculpted by hand. You will make 5 Nerikiri designs where you get to color, wrap the filling and shape the Nerikiri yourself! I will guide you along the way and show you as many techniques as I can. You can also be creative and come out with any designs that you like! Once you're done, enjoy your own creations with a cup of matcha tea. I will provide everything (recipe, ingredients, cooking tools and etc) so you can relax and have fun! Our recipe and ingredients are gluten free, vegan, vegetarian and Muslim friendly. If you have any food allergy, just let us know as we can adjust our ingredients to your dietary preference. Our class is from 10am until 11.30am. Note : The Nerikiri dough and filling will be prepared by the instructor before the class. Our class caters for beginners and not suitable for intermediate or advance level guests.

Hi, I'm Li Ting! My mom and I run a cooking studio in Melaka called Melaka Home Cooking Class. Both of us are two food enthusiasts who enjoy food (especially sweets!), travelling and meeting new people. Our most popular class is the Nyonya Kuih, a type of local sweet that is very well-known in Melaka. With the success of our Nyonya Kuih class, we wish to introduce more unique sweets (like Japanese Wagashi) to our guests. We conduct our cooking classes in a 2-storey bungalow located in a peaceful residential area in Melaka. Our house is spacious, clean and cosy. Most importantly, our property is fully air-conditioned so you can learn comfortably under our hot and humid local weather.
