What you'll do

The experience will take you to six different stops over 3-5 hours, including one of the oldest pubs in Leeds, the largest covered market in Europe, and a fabulous pub/cafe/bakery who pride themselves on providing a 'little piece of Yorkshire'. Between venues I'll point out some of the landmarks that are key to the heritage of food in Leeds and Yorkshire such as old market places and the birthplace of some Leeds' foodie inventions.

You'll learn about foods that are traditional to Leeds and Yorkshire, the foods that were consumed in the 17th, 18th and 19th centuries and of course the venues that we visit. The tour focuses on independent eateries that use local ingredients and you'll leave with a full belly, a whole host of knowledge about the heritage of food in Yorkshire and a passion for eating, drinking and shopping local.

Your ticket will include food at all six stops, an alcoholic or soft drink at two stops, and water throughout.

I'm a foodie who's lived in Leeds for ten years and in that time eaten at almost every independent pub and restaurant, built relationships with local suppliers and worked on promoting the local community through eating, drinking and shopping local and writing about Leeds on my food, travel and lifestyle blog.

My knowledge of food in Leeds has been informed by speaking to those involved in the industry as well as plenty of first hand experience! I've built up historical food knowledge through hours in the library, and gained insight from others who have done research in the field.
