What you'll do

Your “Learn to Ski (better) with a Vermonter” experience will take place at Mount Snow in West Dover, VT. or any Epic Resort in S. Vermont or S. New Hampshire.

If you have never skied before, great! Our goal is to get you on the hill and skiing with connected turns and control over how fast or slow you want to go.

If you already ski but feel a little stuck, our goal is to get you carving beautiful, dynamic turns like never before.

Lessons can be individual or if you have a group with similar skill levels, I can teach up to 5 in a private group. I teach ages 7 to 87. Cost does not including rentals or lift.

Most beginner lessons will start by walking on flat land in skis and boots and then learning to walk up a small hill sideways, turn and ski down in a balanced and natural stance.

As confidence grows, we will move to riding a magic carpet and/or chairlift and work on balance, pressure and edging ski skills on Green (Easy) slopes. Our goal for the beginner lesson is to be able to ride the chairlift and ski down a green trail making multiple turns to control speed and direction and avoid other skiers.

For experienced skiers, you will decide what terrain you want to ski on and we will build on your strengths and offer helpful adjustments and exercises to get you carving sharp, dynamic turns.

Hi. My name is Will Shakespeare and I have been skiing in Vermont since I was 5 years old, skiing at Cochran's Hill, Stowe, Smugglers Notch, Sugarbush and raced on my school ski team. I‘ve taught skiing to hundreds of people, young and old, with great joy and success.

I have been a certified Level 2 Professional Ski Instructor of America (PSIA) and taught skiing at Mount Snow for over ten years.

I enjoy sharing my love of skiing by helping others feel comfortable, safe and in control when they ski.

I teach skiing skills in simple progressive steps that lead to rapid progress and advancement in skill levels.

My goal is to help my guests have a wonderful time outdoors in the winter, and to help them fall in love with the joy of skiing.

I also run Shakespeare’s Folly Side Farm AirBnB in Marlboro, VT, 25 minutes from Mt Snow

Loved the 1 to 1 experience with Will! He had many decades of teaching and it shows. Very thorough and great communicator. I've only been on ski slopes 4 or 5 times total but he was very patient and we went down blues and greens! Really focused on the individual and honing the basics (and a few pro tips) which was exactly what I wanted and needed. I applied his recommendations for the rest of the trip and it was very successful skiing trip.

Our lesson was great. We were very beginners and Will prepared us well for our adventures down the slopes. We definitely felt much safer and more confident after our lesson. We skied the next day and felt proud of ourselves for getting down the mountain with the skills we had learned.

By far the best teacher to get you on the slopes fast. Super nice and friendly. Great experience and looking forward to doing it again.

I felt like I found something special in hiring William for lessons for my two kids (7 and 10). My daughter 7, can be challenging and she has a lot of sensory issues. Will was super patient and kind and had such a good vibe that my daughter immediately felt comfortable. He took her to the next level on skis. When we started she could barely ski a green, when we left 4 days later she was on the easier blues. She has technique and control. He taught my son that skiing isn’t racing down the mountain out of control, but a sport that one needs to learn and practice. He then went to the North Face with me and gave me some great pointers, small things that I didn’t even realize that completely changed my skiing style and technique. Very happy with everything. 👍👍👍👍👍👍👍
