What you'll do

Let me take you on a walk through the inner city of Stockholm and Old Town. You will admire the unique 3:30p.m darkness brightened up by the beautiful Christmas lights that decorate 40-plus streets and parks. This is a perfect opportunity to capture some stunning pictures of a typical Scandinvaian city winter night. Whether you are a professional photographer or just want to show your friends and family back home how magical a winter night can be, a walk around Stockholm at night is what you need! You will discover some of the winter traditions that Swedish people look forward to all year. For myself, as an expat living in Sweden (coming up to my 9th winter), I will give you an inside look into how a modern Swedish family embraces winter traditions that are centuries old. I will tell you all about how the Swedes celebrate Christmas today and compare how the same tradition was celebrated in times gone by. We can share how your culture celebrates the winter period as well. This is a light-hearted look at the festive period, along the way I will share my local knowledge and great restaurants and pubs to warm up in afterwards. The route we take is similar to my Modern History experience but the stories are different.

Ryan

As a guide for over a decade I have lived and breathed Northern European history; as a father in Sweden I have lived and breathed the modern Swedish social system; as a lover of food and drink I have lived and breathed Swedish culture and traditions. Welcome to Stockholm - in winter! My Airbnb experiences are designed to be informative; light-hearted; entertaining but most importantly encourage comfortable interaction. With my knowledge of history + storytelling, along with my personal experiences of growing up in Australia, to raising a family in Sweden - it is a unique spin on history and culture that guide books can not give. I want to hear about Christmas / Winter traditions from your childhood. Travelling is the people you meet. I love meeting new people hopefully I can meet you on one of my experiences. Where you'll be

Beginning at the geographical center of Stockholm, we walk through vibrant inner city Stockholm. See how beautiful Stockholm can be, even in the dark winter. We check out my favourite roof top view. Walk past a "modern" city square with kickback to the art-deco period of the 1920s, check the most vibrant entertainment neighboorhood, visit the best park in winter, finishing in the Old Town Xmas market Welcome to Stockholm Winter Wonderland
