About your host, Dan
I'm the founder of a city guide called Barcelona Navigator. I became interested in Picasso's life in Barcelona after I discovered that I lived in the building that his family moved into when they arrived from Málaga.
What we’ll do
In this experience, we'll retrace the footsteps of the young artist through the labyrinthine streets of the old town of Barcelona. We'll learn about the mythology behind some of Picasso's most important works and the key figures in his life that he met here. Discover where his family lived, the art schools he attended and the studios where he painted early masterpieces such as Science and Charity (1897) at age 15. We'll also explore the bars, cafes and galleries that formed his world.
Notes
Good idea to bring a camera and comfortable shoes.
Where we’ll be
We'll visit the most meaningful locations of Picasso's youth, scattered through the Gothic Quarter and El Born neighborhood. For example, we'll visit the place that inspired his groundbreaking painting, Les Demoiselles d’Avignon and the gallery (the oldest in Spain) where he held his first exhibition.
