What you'll do

This experience is all about tasting the many varieties of Belgian beers and trying to figure out what your favorite Belgian beers of beer styles are. As a beer sommelier, I will try and guide you through that process by giving you some personal recommendations for beer to try during the tour (or afterwards :-)).

All tasted beers come in small glasses (there might be 1 bigger beer included in one of the pubs, subject to availability) so the focus is the taste and flavor and not the quantity of the beer. In total, you will taste 8 or 9 different beers, served in small tasting glasses.

We meet in front of the Bourgogne des Flandres brewery where you are welcomed and given your totebag. From there we take a short walk to the beer museum. Whilst tasting some beers, I will tell you about beer ingredients and beer production. After that we pay a visit to 2 nearby beer pubs where we taste some more beers and where I tell you a bit more about what makes the Belgian beer scene so unique.

After that, we go back to the Bourgogne des Flandres brewery for a beer blending & chocolate pairing workshop, you get to blend your own Bourgogne des Flandres beer from the two base beers used in the blend and compare it to the actual BdF. During this session you will also discover how well beer and chocolate go together as we will be tasting some Belgian pralines with the beers in this workshop
Other things to note
This is a tasting tour involving alcohol and chocolates. Therefore the tour is not suitable for anyone under the age of 16 (legal drinking age in Belgium) nor for anyone who cannot consume alcohol/chocolate for medical or other reasons. Please inform me if you have any allergies or intolerances.

I am a professional beer sommelier and have been working in the beer industry for the last 3 years. At the moment, I work for a brewery in Bruges. I am passionate about beer and want to share this passion with as many people as I possibly can. In 2015, I also founded my own company called Queens of Hop that provides beer tastings for companies, organisations and individuals both in Belgium and abroad. I also sell beer packages and provide beer advice concerning the beer menu at pubs, bars and restaurants. I teach future zythologists (beer sommeliers) at Syntra West. I have quite a lot to tell and share with you about the Belgian beer culture. So if you are looking for a unique adventure in the wonderful world of Belgian beer, look no further!

The beer tasting was really nice, interesting and tasteful. Katie was very friendly and gave us a very good insight into the Belgian beer brewing and culture. I can recommend it very well!

We werden meteen zeer vriendelijk ontvangen.

Prepare yourself for not only great beers (and lots of it in different varieties) but also some good laughs! I did this tour with my two brothers and I can imagine that it's not that easy to warm up a group of siblings but Katie was fantastic in including us all and figuring out what we liked. She explained the things in a way that was easy for all of us - more in detail for my brothers and in simple words for me. We had several stops on the tour and saw places in Bruges we may not have visited otherwise. My favourite part was when Katie recommended me a beer at the third stop and - by that time she knew what I liked - she was spot on. It's not easy to find a favourite beer among them all but I have a clear structure now with which beer I will start and end my evenings in Belgium from now on. It felt more like hanging out with a friend who is passionate about beer and tells you all about it than a standard tour. Next time we're in Bruges we'll come back for the tour just to see if our taste has changed.

Super gezellige tour.
