What you'll do

We will start with introducing you to each of the goats (and chickens if interested) and learning more about them, their background stories, behaviors and the unique characteristics of the species. There will be plenty of time for hugs, scratches, photo ops and to feed them some of their favorite treats! Weather dependent, we will proceed to hike through marked trails on our 9 acre property with the herd, who enjoy navigating the trails and clearing some brush along the way! There will be plenty of opportunities to watch the goats in a natural habitat and bond with them .... not to mention plenty of selfie opportunities. :) We will then spend some more quality time with all of the goats, especially our newest additions, 2 baby Nigerian dwarf goats, who love lots of attention! If a date isn't available on our calendar, please ask! We'd love to accommodate you if we can!

Your hosts

We have cared for rescue goats for over 7 years. After our first goat wandered onto our property after being "set free" by a local camp, we constructed our current animal enclosure and have grown our "family" to five very friendly (and spoiled) rescue goats. Each one comes with a different rescue story, 2 coming from horrific conditions at a "backyard butcher", "farm-to-table" operation and two rescued from the "meat-markets" of NYC to be exploited as petting zoo animals, only to find that the laws were too strict for the person who purchased them. I am a supporter of, and have collaborated with, Woodstock Farm Animal Sanctuary, Catskill Animal Sanctuary and Farm Sanctuary in both receiving our rescued animals (we also have 19 rescued chickens!) and caring for them. We are excited to share their stories with you!

Where you'll be

"Frederick Farm" is a 9 acre property and residence, also host to two separate Airbnb rentals. We have a large vegetable garden for the animals adjacent to the animal enclosure, which is several fenced in acres of pasture and forest, with a natural stream throughout. Our marked trails meander through the property for our hike. Our site is located in the Catskill Park and is walking distance to the Rondout Reservoir with spectacular water views

More tips

This experience is rain or shine. Bringing water bottles is recommended. Please note that this is a private residence, and while we're happy to have guests use the bathroom, it would be helpful if guests could stop before arrival as bathroom breaks take away from group time with the goats.
