What you'll do

If I had to say there's one hidden sanctuary away from everything else, an as-yet undiscovered paradise, this is IT!

The day begins at an unassuming trail head, tucked back up Eldorado Canyon with a large gravel ascending path as a total ruse for what lies ahead. Over the course of the next 3-4 hours we'll hike and explore the canyon with its' steep rock walls, towering mountains, and deep valley below.

After taking in the spectacular canyon views, we'll connect to Rattlesnake Gulch and continue to climb to the ruins of the old Craggs Hotel, built at the turn of the century and once accessible only by railroad or wagon. It burned down only four years after it was built, but the stone fireplace remains; some of the best preserved masonry from that time period in existence.

The final culmination of our tour is 1100' higher than our start; a birds eye view of the Continental Divide with panoramic views that will totally take your breath away. Here we'll enjoy a fully prepared picnic lunch, take tons of great photos, and enjoy a welcome rest before the trek down.
Other things to note
This hike is the perfect choice if you aren't necessarily an experienced or technical hiker but love a good adventure, are always up for a challenge, and getting your heart rate up a bit.

Hi, I'm Robin. I've been leading hikes through Airbnb Experiences for over a year now and it's been one of the best opportunities of my life.
I grew up in the heart of Alaska with parents who met in med school and hatched a plam to move us to Alaska when I was six months old so they could deliver medical care by bush plane. We had a river for a back yard and I often commuted to work by boat. Colorado is now home, but Alaska runds deep in my blood, with the outdoors my haven. I know every trail around and when I'm not leading hikes I'm out exploring every chance I get.
In addition to my knowlege and profound love of the mountains, I'm a professional chef, teaching Paleo-themed cooking classes. Each of my hikes includes one of my custom-prepared lunches. What better way to cap off a challenging hike!

What a fantastic experience! We could not have wished for a more amazing first-time Colorado hike! The photos we got, the stories, the VIEWS, the workout, the amazing meal (even better than we expected!!) and it was the best reward for a great challenge. I absolutely loved everything and couldn't be happier to have met Robin! Thank you endlessly for the great conversation even in the middle of wind that could blow us off our feet! Robin checks off all the boxes to probably live forever--the happiest rockstar ever.
