About your host

I've lived in the National Capital Region more than 30 years and have been to most local attractions, and have lived near and next to Gatineau park most of my adult life. I've biked and hiked in the park a long time. I love nature and hikes in Gatineau park, and have a passion for knowing and sharing information about trees in the Park, and for discovering and sharing little gems within the park…

What we’ll do

No one else in Ottawa offers this. Experience the charm of Gatineau Park with a hike to a log cabin and a cheese fondue dinner warmed on a wood burning stove. We’ll meet on chemin Cross Loop, parking P15, where you’ll be able to park your vehicle. From there, we'll start to hike into Gatineau Park along a well-groomed trail #70, a 7+ km hike (one way) with a fair bit of an incline (but don't worry…

What else you should know

Dress weather appropriate. Keep in mind that hiking to the cabin will likely make you warm & maybe sweaty. Consider wearing layers, and bring spare clothes to change in case. The trail is wide, normally dry and well-groomed. Snowshoes are not necessarily needed in winter, snow is usually packed.

The trail is primarily used for hiking and best used from Nov to March. Dogs on leash are welcomed, but not allowed inside the shelter.
