About your host

We’re Dumi and Yamuna – a husband-wife team that enjoys making with our hands. Welcome to MAKERLALA, our handcrafted studio which took us 6 months to build. Dumi, Computer Scientist by day, amateur woodworker and all-round handyman by night, built our furniture. Yamuna, ex-marketer-turned-quilter, is the creative behind the space. We relish the slow process of the handmade and invite other…

What else you should know

There's nothing physically demanding for the class. But you do need to be able to climb 5 storeys up to the beautiful studio where we'll be conducting class. However, the stairs are manageable, with multiple resting points in between, so walk slowly, but walk.

What I’ll provide

Snacks and Tasting menu
To wrap up the Singapore experience, we'll end the session with a sampling of local snacks and pastries, as well as interacting with the venue hosts from MAKERLALA - an interracial husband-wife team Dumi and Yamuna, who handcrafted this beautiful space where we'll be spending the afternoon.
Beer, Coffee, Juice, Soft drinks, Tea and Water
Wind down, chill on the roof, see Singapore from a different angle, with a glass of cold beer. All-day juice, fruit-infused water and drinks provided.
Creative supplies
Each participant will be provided 80 meters of cotton rope and a guideline with extra patterns to work on.

Where you'll be

We will conduct our workshop in a quaint 1950s old shophouse at Lavender Street. Take a step back and soak in the relaxed vibes as you while away the afternoon at MAKERLALA, a handcrafted studio run by a husband-wife team who enjoys making with their hands. They built all the furniture in the studio and even handpainted the rooftop deck. After class, you may choose to spend the evening on the roof, enjoying the beautiful sunset and views.
