What you'll do

My 90 minute walking tour introduces you to the 19 different styles of architecture in the historic district of Carnegie Hill. The tour includes a copy of Carnegie Hill Neighbors' indispensable (374 page) book CARNEGIE HILL ARCHITECTURAL GUIDE (a $25.00 value). Art Deco, Beaux-Arts, Chateauesque, Modern, Art Moderne, and Neo-Federal are just a few of the architectural styles we'll savor. Celebrate the achievements of venerable architects such as Emery Roth and Frank Lloyd Wright while soaking up the stunning neighborhood where caricaturist Al Hirschfeld lived on the same block as Abstract Expressionist painter Mark Rothko, and Marlene Dietrich's daughter Riva. The tour meets at the Guggenheim Museum (88th & 5th Avenue), and ends on New York City's most beautiful block.

We might even see a celebrity.

Where you'll be

We'll meet at the Guggenheim Museum (at 89th and 5th Avenue), and walk along 5th Avenue to step inside Central Park for a visit to the Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis Reservoir that gives home to over 20 species of waterbirds. We'll visit the Neo-Gothic styled Church of Heavenly Hope, Andrew Carnegie's British inspired mansion, Otto Kahn's stunning palazzo, the beautiful Chateauesque styled Jewish Museum, and see one of Manhattan's oldest hotels.
