As a future resident of San Diego and a former resident of New York City, I had to immerse myself in the areas I should “stay away from” because that’s where I’m from. I could easily go Kayaking on La Jolla or walking tour to Downtown San Diego - but I felt this was way more meaningful in many ways. As a Hip-hop enthusiast in NYC this broke ground for me as J blended the cultures for me to understand and we could converse on many aspects of life. If you’re into history, music and GREAT FOOD, book this.

Barrio Logan. Many may ride pass and look in awe because of the melting pot of love. I guarantee you will not be sorry you stopped in to interact. From arriving a little early and exploring the nearby art, music and food to sitting down and learning more about the rise, fall, gentrification and now revolution of evolution, I left with a sense of pride to continue fighting on. Having connected with a passionate J about his craft, home and future plans, you will want to take this tour more than once just to learn more! The Last Black Man Of Barrio Logan!

The tour with Ramel was insightful, re-affirming, and most importantly encouraging. Stories like his encourage us all to find sense of self in the midst of the most dynamic environments. I loved the introduction to the spoken word talent of San Diego...it was breathtaking and inspiring. I’m a student of the arts at heart so I really appreciated the pull back to my creative roots on this tour. And the intro videos were amazing! Would definitely recommend this tour if you’re interested in learning more about San Diego’s racial history or just want to delve into a different perspective than your own.
