What you'll do

We will walk around and explore the city of Tallinn together. We will leave the old town behind us. Don't take me wrong, I enjoy the old town but if you want to feel more of the city as I do, we need to get out of there! The theme of the event will be the "The Many Shades of Tallinn's Even-changing Urban Landscape". I will take you to walk around one of my favorite sub-districts in Tallinn to see more of her nuanced, ongoing and "alive" urban transformation, then we move on to my favorite park in town, then my favorite lesser-known beach overlooking the gulf of Finland. And finally we can wrap the day up with having something to eat at one of my favorite local eateries. See, I won't tell you which building is built by whom in what year and all that. What I offer in our outing is not tour-guiding, but an experience to connect with breathing pulse of the city as much as possible, using my lived-through references: the places we go will all be my "favorites", and I promise it will be nothing but an interesting, personal, and most importantly, connecting event :) P.S.: If you would like, I can also take very non-professional photos of you with my very semi-professional DSLR camera throughout the experience :)

Pinqing

I am a cultural anthropologist based in Tallinn. I moved to this little hidden gem of a spot in Europe from Japan back in Autumn, 2015 and never really left. Besides Japan, I have also lived in China and Italy. My personal journey of moving around and researching cultural practices through my training in anthropology equipped me with unique perspectives about places and the people that reside with(in) them. I turned some of my experience of living in Tallinn into videos and published them on my personal YouTube channel: https://www.youtube.com/pynchonwoo. They got more views than I can ever expect and I was even interviewed on an Estonia's national television channel for my outsider's take on Estonian culture. I love Tallinn, and that passioned fueled my curiosity and reflections. And now, I want to share my Tallinn with you!

Where you'll be

1. A sub-district of Tallinn. I have a few picks and I will brief you their unique characteristics and then you can let me know where we are going. 2. Kadriorg Park. 3. A lesser-known leach in Pirita sub-district, not far away from where I live. 4. A local eatery. I have a few names, and depends on your budget and preferences, we will head to one of them. You do not have to pay for my food :)
