What you'll do

I offer a safe, fast, and fun dolphin & whale watching experience on rigid inflatable (zodiac-style) boats with me or one of my team. This smile-plastered-to-your-face trip is perfect for adventurous guests ages six and older who seek an intimate look at Dana Point's year-round whales, dolphins, and other mesmerizing marine life.

I'm a licensed dolphin & whale cruise provider in Dana Point, the Dolphin and Whale Watching Capital of the World®, and a certified Whale Heritage Site. You could get within arm’s reach of wildlife such as mega-pods of wild dolphins up to 10,000 strong, blue whales, gray whales, humpback whales, fin whales, sea lions, and much more. Dana Point made famous the dolphin stampede!

My comfortable, upscale zodiacs feature heavily padded seats with seatbacks and a large sunshade. Reaching speeds of 30 knots or faster, you’ll spend less time looking for animals and more time enjoying them. U.S. Coast Guard inspected and certified for safety. Have a GoPro? Bring it! You'll be VERY close to the water’s surface!

Join me to take a deeper dive into the lives of whales and dolphins, learn what threats they face, and BE one of the pod!

Important notes:
Due to the fun, but fast and bouncy ride, you should be in good overall health. Be aware of possible ocean spray when bringing electronics or other valuables.

I am a Coast Guard licensed captain, and for over 20 years I've had the privilege of taking passengers out to see the magnificent whales and huge pods of dolphins that live year-round off the coast of Southern California. I'm a certified Responsible Whale Watching partner with the World Cetacean Alliance. When I’m not on the water showing passengers amazing sea life, I’m actively involved with whale disentanglement. I founded and organized Orange County's first whale rescue group. I'm also an award-winning filmmaker and author who has been featured on the Ellen DeGeneres Show, Today Show, CBS This Morning, Good Morning America, Discovery Channel, and National Geographic, and have had my film footage in theatrical films including in the Academy Award nominated film, Racing Extinction.

Where you'll be

We depart from beautiful Dana Point Harbor, a small marina with quick access to the open ocean. Dana Point is conveniently located mid-way between Los Angeles and San Diego, just a few minutes from Laguna Beach, and only 33 miles from Disneyland. It's not uncommon to see playful dolphins or jumping whales right outside the harbor! The direction we go will depend upon the wildlife. Usually, we only need to go 3 to 5 miles offshore.

We were able to view bottle nose dolphins and learned a ton about them! Loved the boat ride and being so up close and personal

The whale watching was amazing! The boat was very comfortable and super fast! Our captain was very knowledgeable of the ocean and knew exactly where to go see whales. The fleet of vessels keep radio contact with each other giving us the best opportunity to understand the current conditions. We got at a close but safe distance from a gray whale migration. Dolphins joined us on the way back along with a greetings from the seals and sea lions at the port entrance. Will be going back out again soon!

Chuck and Anna were great. The Greys we found were rather uncooperative and it was still a good time! Crew was more than willing to go the extra mile.

Amazing experience! Great Captain, excellent staff on the boat, and well-maintained boats. We got reeeaaallyy lucky and saw several whales and dolphins! Everyone wore a mask and there was enough room to maintain a safe distance. Felt very covid safe.

The Zodiac Crazy Cat experience is NOT for anyone with neck or back issues or disabilities. The fast speed and constant hitting the surf was painful and hard at the high speeds. We were in the front of the craft and quite miserable. Take the bigger boat to see if the experience is easier.
