What you'll do

I love drinking about as much I love talking about New York City, so what better than running a drinking NYC history tour of the East Village, which might be the last corner of recklessness this city has left.

We’ll raise a glass at a St. Marks speakeasy, an Alphabet City dive bar where cinematic classics were filmed, and one or two spots in between all while learning about where punk became a scene, mob hits took place and RuPaul was well... RuPaul.

Come join me on a wonderful adventure of libations and explorations of what makes the NYC’s East Village such a damn treat.

COVID-19 UPDATE: Because of the current NYC COVID regulations we are currently not able to drink inside any bar. We will be able to go inside for restrooms, which will give you a brief but lovely look inside these amazing places. However, we will still be able to sit outside and drink at these locations and learn about their many stories and incredible history.

I've had the joy of living in this city for 15 wonderful years which has allowed me the pleasure of giving NYC walking tours as a New York City licensed sightseeing guide.

As a comedian, I've performed in just about every theater, club, basement and bar in this city, so I know it pretty well! I think having a sense of humor about the city's crazy history helps me find all the eccentricities that make New York such an incredible place to learn about, whether you've lived here for years or are just visiting.

Where you'll be

We'll get things started with a welcome drink in the oldest Irish pub in the city, McSorley's Old Ale House and learn how the East Village got its start. From there we'll turn the corner and go up St. Marks Place, America's most notorious street. Along the way we'll see where Andy Warhol partied, the Hamiltons lived, gangsters were shot and the Punk scene began, all while getting a few more drinks along the way.

Like a history lesson and talking to a friend at the same time. Giancarlo is a supremely accommodating host who obviously does it because of his love for the richly historical St. Marks Place and NYC. Highly recommended even if you don’t ordinarily go on tours. If you’re a comedy fan or do comedy even more so. Found out he’s done shows with Ali Wong! Take this tour. You will never look at the city the same again. The introduction to awesome drinking spots and its history is a giant plus too! I might have never found those spots if it weren’t for this. Thank you Giancarlo! Keep up the good work!

The NYC drinking tour with Giancarlo exceeded my expectations! The host is knowledgeable, fun and friendly. The tour was insightful and shed new light on NYC nightlife/entertainment history, that even a native such as myself was not privy to! Loved the tour :)

Giancarlo led us on a historical tour through the East Village that had us drinking Irish beers to absinthe. He was super friendly and full of fun pop culture facts that had our jaws dropping every block we walked down. Our favorite part was ending the night at a dive bar and walking through Tompkins park. I don't want to give away too many details but lets just say you will have an unforgettable tour covering the arts, music, prohibition, women's rights, and the list goes on. I will definitely reccommend this tour to all my friends and family!
