What you'll do
The hike starts from Monolithos, a beautiful rural village at the West side of the island. The top of Akramitis mountain, the second highest of the island of Rhodes, is our “mission”! The hike ascents at first on green slopes of cypress trees that overlook the bay of Apollakia giving us multiple chances for amazing photos. After the first part, we now hike through beautiful alpine meadows, full of aromatic herbs like sage and oregano and we soon reach the chapel of St John. Time for a well-deserved stop, before starting again to get to the top. Once arrived, the views are amazing. We will admire the nearby islands of Halki, Alimia, Tilos and even Karpathos and the inland of Rhodes Island. To go down we follow a different trail though high pine trees. This hike offers you the chance to explore a totally undiscovered area of the island, and can surely convince you that Rhodes is more than it seems.
Other things to note
This hike is suitable for guests that have a normal physical condition. It is considered moderate/strenuous - Difficulty 3/5. The distance covered is 9.2km.
It hasn't difficult passages, but it's quite long and uphill at the first part. Definitelly worth the effort though :)

I'm a co-founder of Trekking Hellas Rhodes Base. Leaving in and admiring nature since i remember myself, daughter of two geologists, for me it was obvious that my "career" would me around the natural environment. Before, throughout and after my studies on Psychology, the last 13 years, i am always working with Trekking Hellas, the oldest outdoor Greek company, all over Greece, with kids, families and people from abroad, showing them how beautiful my country is. Here on Rhodes, i mainly lead sea kayaking trips and beautiful hikes on high mountains or lovely coasts.

Really enjoyed my hike with Maria and Jimmy. Both were very friendly and knowledgeable and made the day a super experience. They provide drinks and pies and snacks to keep us going, plus pleny of local information. The walk was not too strenuous and the views were amazing.
