Where you'll be
Emerald Cave on Colorado River -
Thanks to the remarkable power of science and nature working together, this beautiful spot lives up to its name with photogenic emerald green waters on sunny days. The emerald hue doesn’t come from algae in the water, it occurs as a result of the sun’s reflection off of the surrounding cavern’s yellow-brownish walls and the blue of the sky combining to create a stunning emerald green appearance.

We had a blast- the river is beautiful and the Emerald Cave is very cool, even if the sun doesn’t shine just right. We loved hearing all the stories and knowledge of the terrain that Bali had to share. If you’re visiting in the winter months be sure to bring layers if you get chilly easily!

This was the a great way to spend the day. Talked to Bali day before and he said I could just meet them at the launch location which was way better for me. I appreciated how accommodating and easy going it all was. Mark was our guide. he taught me how to use the kayak rig and I felt like I improved my kayak skills (which was a bonus). We skipped rocks, mark showed off his kayak tricks and by the end of it- I felt like I had been out on the water for the perfect amount of time. They provided bananas, granola bars and water. Also salt cedar. Local plant which we tasted as well.

It was super fun to kayak the river! It got super windy though and it was hard to keep up with the guide. There also wasn’t much time just to relax and enjoy the beauty. It seemed like we were constantly having to move and that we were on a tight schedule.
I would have loved it to be more laid back and I wish the pace of the kayaking could have been slowed down so I could take in all of the beauty instead of feeling stressed about falling behind.
Also, the cave was super small and unless you are there in the summer, you don’t get to see it all lit up like they show in the pictures.

Booked this on a whim and my god am I glad I did. This was the perfect day trip, little windy but Bali (our guide) showed us the ropes of how to Kayak with ease against the wind. The water in the cave was stunning, overall great vibes, and wonderful photos Bali took of us.
Thanks again for an unforgettable Kayaking trip!
